My answer was firm and I would choose a station wagon.
The practicality of the SUV is not weak, the loading capacity is generally much stronger than the traditional sedan, but I am a fan who is keen to drive, and I do not like the weak handling of the SUV, so I once made a flag: if you have money, you must buy a station wagon, you have no money to make money to buy a station wagon, in short, you have to buy a station wagon in life.
Although I have been unable to realize my dream of a station wagon due to my pocket shyness, in a way, the reason why I chose the Swift and hatchback A3 at the moment is actually the same as my choice of station wagon under this hypothetical problem, which is based on the fact that while ensuring good handling, I am not willing to "waste" the body size, which is a "rational" choice.
So, if there is no upper limit to the car purchase budget of this station wagon that will drive for a lifetime, then my final answer will definitely be to lock in the strongest grocery car on land - Audi RS6 Avant. After all, the ceiling of the station wagon world, who can not love it?
But unfortunately, if there is no such thing as a Million Luxury Car at birth, it will be difficult to have it in this life. In the Chinese mainland market starting at 1.4538 million yuan, the new car landing price is close to 2 million yuan of Audi RS6 Avant, which may only be my distant fantasy.
That being the case, I think I'll go back to the real world and aim for the Audi A6 Avant as a second priority?

A benchmark for station wagons
To this day, I believe that there are still many consumers who are reluctant to accept the design of the wagon, they think that the design of this large hatchback is not as advanced as the traditional sedan, and even feel that the shape of the station wagon is somewhat similar to some hearse that gives people the last trip.
This is the main reason why it is difficult for the station wagon to expand its scale in the Chinese market.
But "the arsenic of the other, the honey of my", in my opinion, the station wagon is not only more practical than the sedan, but also the plump fat buttocks hit my aesthetic precisely, and I think that only Audi and Volvo have the ability to create the most beautiful station wagon in the world, and the "most beautiful station wagon" must also be the work of Audi or Volvo.
If you think that I have invested too much affection in the station wagon and throwing out such a point of view may seem unfair, then we can also put aside the appearance and only discuss the practicality and driving experience of the A6 Avant.
First of all, in terms of practicality, the conventional volume of the trunk of this A6 Avant has reached 565L, which is 135L higher than the sedan version, and slightly better than the Q5L's 550L. When the second row of seats is receded, the trunk volume of the A6 Avant can be increased to 1680L, and its loading capacity is even stronger than that of Q5L.
Imagine that in this three-dimensional space with a depth of more than 2 meters, a width of more than 1 meter, and a height of more than 70 centimeters, you can watch the stars and the moon with your partner and children, and you can also place a child safety seat and a BB car at will.
Combined with life, this is the ultimate meaning of the station wagon.

However, perhaps because the A6 Avant is an original European imported car, retaining the characteristics of the European car's hard seats. For a station wagon, I will slightly dislike its seat padding, in my opinion, such a setting does not meet the need for "sofa seats" for domestic tourism.
Of course, if the Chinese market will also love station wagons as much as the European market, I believe that a number of manufacturers will also lengthen the wheelbase of the station wagon according to the preferences of the Chinese market, and soften the appropriate amount of seat filling.
At that time, the station wagon tailored for the Chinese market was likely to be a "dachshund", the most practical type of station wagon in the world. But it's just a joke, and there really isn't going to be that time.
Supple and boring
Frankly, if I had removed the "RS" label, I wouldn't have expected the A6 Avant to perform in driving.
In fact, as a derivative of an executive-class sedan, the A6 Avant presents the high-end feeling that an executive-class sedan should have, and you will feel that all the characteristics of this car are set for users who are no longer confused about life.
Especially the power output characteristics, the engineers tuned this EA888 high-power engine very softly, the output of the front section in standard mode is more relaxed, the output on the torque is more conservative, you can feel that the power reserve is more reserved for the middle and rear sections, the whole acceleration process is gradual, and very Sven does not have a sense of violence, the maximum horsepower of 245 horses and the maximum torque of 370 Nm seem to be hidden.
At this time, the characteristics of this EA888 engine are close to that of a large-displacement self-priming engine.
Fortunately, when I switch the driving mode to sport, the engine will be more willing to release its super low twist, and the response of the original lazy throttle will become more positive, and the acceleration time of 0-100km/h will only take 7 seconds, which is also qualified for an executive-class sedan weighing close to 2 tons.
However, the acceleration of this A6 Avant in the sense of the body is very small, perhaps there is no word "intense" in its dictionary. Compared to my youthful A3 Sportback, or neutral A4L, the A6 seems to be able to attenuate the sense of speed with a stable chassis, reaching a realm of anti-physical phenomena.
This gentle setting is like a person who is not confused, or a person who knows the destiny of heaven, they no longer care about the ups and downs, they have erased the edges and corners, they have learned to tolerate, but at the same time they have the strength to compete with you to the end, but they do not easily show it.
So the A6 Avant is a station wagon for comfort?
I think it is, but not exactly.
The reason is also because A6 Avant is a European imported car, the setting of its suspension system is still to retain the characteristics of the European market, and it is not like the domestic A6L for domestic consumer preferences to "soft", if you like the soft setting, you will most like the A6 Avant suspension setting is hard.
However, I personally like this setting, to achieve a moderate balance between comfort and support, and not to lose my sister-in-law' affection.
But a little pity is that although the driver can feel that the Audi A6 Avant intends to adjust the more realistic steering feel, but the helpless steering feel of the tuning has never been Audi's strength, coupled with the body weight of nearly 2 tons and the length of the body of nearly 5 meters, these two factors have led to the body followability and flexibility are not high, and it is always difficult to drive fiercely.
For me at this stage, I will feel that this A6 Avant is too stable, so that when driving up, there is a little less passion, and it does not fully meet my requirements for the perfect station wagon to be "quiet as a virgin, moving like a rabbit". This may just illustrate that I am not the target user of the A6 Avant, in fact, the real target user should be very satisfied with the various settings of the A6 Avant, otherwise the A6 Avant would not have become the best-selling C-class station wagon in the European market.
Are the good things all abroad?
I don't know if Audi China would be more interested in the A6 Avant if it added a 3.0T engine and four-wheel drive system, but I would like to vent my "dissatisfaction" here. The A6 Avant in the German domestic market is not only equipped with a four-wheel drive system as standard, but also the weakest power version "50 TFSI", and the comprehensive output power is much higher than the highest specification "45 TFSI" of the medium standard version.
Although the SCEP allroad model comes standard with a 3.0T engine and four-wheel drive system, I believe that there are many riders who hope that Audi can treat the Avant model "equally". After all, not all consumers accept the crossover design of Allroad models.
And back to the question thrown at the beginning of the article, if I can only buy one car in my lifetime, but then buy RS6 Avant, will the A6 Avant, which is the second place, become the goal of my struggle?
I don't know if I'll be the owner of the A6 Avant one day in the future, but I can be sure that if the A6 Avant only plays a "low-to-mid" role in the Chinese market, then it must not be perfect for me. Even if I take a step back, I hope that the A6 Avant can match the four-wheel drive system and the 3.0T engine, and the current A6 Avant is still a little "billion" points away from perfection.
