The Vietnamese government proposes to fully open international tourism on March 15
Vietnam's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently proposed to the central government that international tourism be fully opened on March 31, after nearly two years of closure due to COVID-19.
Previously, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Food had proposed to set the recovery time to March 31 (the end time of the third vaccination of adults), but recently due to the government's directive to "resume international tourism by March 30", it was decided to bring the recovery time forward.
In its latest proposal, the Ministry of Health recommends that foreign travelers should purchase health insurance for COVID-19 treatments at a minimum of $20,000 instead of the $50,000 previously recommended.
They must be vaccinated against COVID-19, with a second vaccination no more than 12 months at least 14 days prior to entry, or proof of COVID-19 recovery within 6 months prior to entry.
In addition, except for children under 2 years of age, the RT-PCR/RT-LAMP test result is negative within 72 hours after exiting the country, and the rapid test for coronavirus in Vietnam's residence within 24 hours after entry is negative.
Vaccinated travelers must participate in tours offered by selected international travel companies for the first three days of their expected stay in Vietnam, and the prescribed time limit for unvaccinated or unvaccinated travelers is 7 days.
Vietnam's Ministry of Health said that after a mandatory period of 3 to 7 days, tourists who test negative for the new crown virus will be eligible to participate in other tours or visit relatives in Vietnam.
Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in order to facilitate the entry of foreigners, Vietnam has recognized the "vaccine passports" of 79 countries and regions, that is, complete vaccination certificates.
