The construction of high-standard farmland is a major supporting project for the mainland to launch a new round of 100 billion catties of grain production capacity improvement action. By the end of 2023, more than 1 billion mu of high-standard farmland has been built across the country. The Huanghuaihai wheat region is the largest wheat producing area in mainland China. Through intensive cultivation, Bengbu has promoted 6 new wheat varieties cultivated by itself this year, covering an area of nearly 12,000 mu, and the yield is expected to increase by nearly 10%.

Honghe Farm in Heilongjiang Reclamation District tried to plant "Tianxiang No. 1" rice for the first time this year, so that the results of space breeding experiments could be transformed and implemented. At present, Heilongjiang Province has basically achieved full coverage of the improved varieties of major crops, and nearly ninety percent of rice seedlings have been raised.

To demand yield from saline-alkali land, new saline-alkali tolerant soybean varieties are being cultivated in the soybean breeding laboratory of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Let the new quality productivity enter the field, Jilin will promote the soybean planting area of 1.2 million mu in the western saline-alkali area this year.

Shandong is an important intelligent agricultural machinery industry base in mainland China. The local air-suction precision seeder is used to sow corn, which can accurately blow out only one corn seed at a time, and can adjust the plant spacing of corn sowing as needed.

In Lianhua County, Jiangxi Province, located in the Luoxiao Mountains, one-third of the farmland belongs to the terraced hillside with large drops. Today, small rice transplanters can go up the hill via a plough road, increasing agricultural productivity. This year, the planting area of early rice in Lianhua County increased by 11% compared with last year.

In Chongzhou, Sichuan, the seedling raising center adopts mechanized and intelligent assembly line cultivation methods throughout the process, and it only takes about 3 days for seedlings to break through the soil.

In the 2,200 acres of saline-alkali land in Wangwa Village, Lijin County, Shandong Province, scientific and technological personnel instructed farmers to use hidden pipe salt discharge technology to improve saline-alkali land. They buried the alkali drainage pipe with small holes at a depth of 0.8 to 1.5 meters below the surface, combined with irrigation and leaching, and drained the salt to achieve land preparation and planting in the current year.

This year, all localities have focused on high-efficiency, water-saving and scientific irrigation, and carried out a series of transformation and upgrading of facilities, equipment and technologies. "Living water" moistens fertile fields, and large and medium-sized irrigation areas have successively opened the gates for spring irrigation, laying the foundation for a bumper summer grain harvest.

In 2024, the No. 1 document of the central government clarified the two main directions of "stabilizing the area and increasing yield", and put forward the goal of ensuring that the grain output is maintained at more than 1.3 trillion catties.
