Recently, Tesla announced on its official website that the cruising range of its electric vehicle charged once is at least 528km. Although it is talking about the battery life data under normal circumstances, it was accused by the Korean Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) because it ignored special case notes such as shortened winter battery life.
The KFTC believes that Tesla exaggerated its battery performance in the publicity, and models such as the Model 3 shortened their mileage at sub-zero temperatures or on the highway, which were not not indicated on the official website and advertisements, violating the Fair Label and Advertising Act. The KFTC said it would punish Tesla after a meeting of discussions.
In addition to the false promotion of battery life, KFTC also pointed out that when consumers order Tesla vehicles on the official website, they need to provide a deposit of 100,000 won (about 530 yuan), and after canceling the order, the deposit will not be refunded. The KFTC believes that Tesla infringes on consumer rights, but so far Tesla has not responded to this matter.
