According to Reuters reported on the 7th, Mercedes-Benz and its South Korean subsidiaries were fined 20.2 billion won (about 107 million yuan) for manipulating emission data.

South Korea's antitrust regulator said Monday it decided to impose a 20.2 billion-won fine on German automaker Mercedes-Benz and its South Korean subsidiary for false advertising related to gas emissions from diesel passenger cars.
South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) said Mercedes-Benz tampered with pollution data by installing illegal software in its vehicles. It is reported that a total of 15 models have such software installed.
The report mentioned that the KFTC said in a statement: "Even after the 'Dieselgate' scandal, south Korea's largest importer of automobiles still obstructs consumers' rational purchasing choices with false and deceptive advertising, and it is of great significance to sanction them." ”
According to the KFTC, the German automaker also falsely advertised that emissions from its vehicles were kept to a minimum and met Euro 6 emissions standards between August 2013 and December 2016.
Last year, the KFTC fined Audi-Volkswagen Korea, Nissan Motor Co., Stellantis Korea and Porsche AG fines or ordered corrective actions in response to similar emissions manipulation incidents, Reuters said.
