Starting from 23 poems, the book writes a magnificent historical and cultural landscape from the Spring and Autumn Warring States to the Tang, Song, Ming, and Qing dynasties, from the famous people of the ages to the ancient city of Youyou, from the cultural relics to the mountains and rivers.
Why is the title of the book "Great Spring and Autumn"? Li Fang said that in the Spring and Autumn Period, there are many kinds of connotations, such as: Spring and Autumn Brushwork, Spring and Autumn Accumulation Sequence, Spring and Autumn Peak... Spring and Autumn refers to time, but also an attitude of life, a outlook on life, a world view, a cosmology, and a methodology. "Spring to autumn, the four seasons are reincarnated, and the vast soup of China for 5,000 years has been achieved."
Li Fang said that the idea of writing this book has been germinating for a long time. In early 2016, she took up a post at a central office. Unlike her previous work and life, life in the institution was intense and hectic. Reading between work and thinking in the fragments of time became the most rare relaxation in her life. "You may not think that in the same time as these fragments, I have read most of the twenty-four histories of the schoolbook, the History of History, the Book of Han, the Book of The Later Han, the Chronicle of the Three Kingdoms, the Old Book of Tang, the New Book of Tang, the History of song... One day, after swallowing dates, I suddenly had an idea to write a big book about China. ”
In addition to the great cultural essays, the book also includes many of her documentary essays about the countryside. Li Fang said that walking in china's vast countryside, there are too many stories of song and tears, and she is more concerned about the ordinary life and ordinary people behind these songs and tears. Over the years, she has traveled through many places in China, such as Xichang on the snowy plateau, Liangshan on the cliffs, Guyuan in the barren world, Xiangxi on the banks of the Wuling River, Pingtang in China's Tianyan, Xiangyang in the Seven Provinces, Jingning in the Donggong Mountains, and Nandan on the banks of the Hongshui River. These places that shocked her blossomed one by one in her words.
