Recently, we obtained the Tianjin FAW Toyota new energy vehicle project plan from relevant channels, and the first phase of the project has been completed at the end of 2021, and at the end of December 2022, it is planned to complete the scheduling of three new vehicles. These include FAW Toyota bZ4X, FAW Toyota GRANVIA (FAW Toyota version of Xena SIENNA) and a new electric sedan equipped with BYD battery packs.
Judging from the exposed footage, the first model produced by the plant is FAW Toyota bZ4X (internal code name EVE3), which is based on the e-TNGA architecture and is positioned as a pure electric compact SUV, which has entered trial production at the plant and is expected to be put into production in June 2022. In addition, the new car will have a new Chinese name in the future.
The second model will be a new medium-sized MPV produced by FAW Toyota, or will be named GRANVIA, which is also currently in the trial installation stage. It will be a medium-sized and large-scale MPV based on the Toyota SIENNA model, which will be a sister car to GAC Toyota Sena SIENNA and is expected to be equipped with a Toyota 2.5L hybrid powertrain.
The third model will be toyota's first pure electric model (internal code EV7) cooperated with BYD, and the new car may be a strategic model for the global market and will be equipped with a power battery pack provided by BYD, which may be priced at less than 200,000 yuan.
