Recently, Tianjin FAW Toyota's new energy vehicle project has made new progress. According to reports, the first phase of the project has been completed by the end of 2021, and it is planned to complete the scheduling of three new cars by the end of December 2022. These include FAW Toyota bZ4X, FAW Toyota GRANVIA (FAW Toyota version of Xena SIENNA) and a new electric sedan equipped with BYD battery packs.

Judging from the exposure screen, the first model will be FAW Toyota bZ4X (internal code name EVE3), the new car is positioned as a pure electric compact SUV, based on Toyota's new e-TNGA architecture, has entered the trial production state.

The second model is a medium-sized and large MPV, the new car or named GRANVIA, is a sister model of GAC Toyota Xena, based on the American version of Toyota SIENNA, will be equipped with Toyota 2.5L hybrid system. At present, the car has also entered the trial installation stage, and there will be a welfare version of the model in the future.

The third model will be toyota's first pure electric model (internal code ev7) cooperated with BYD, which will be a "pure electric global strategic product similar to Corolla" that will use battery packs provided by BYD and cost less than 200,000 yuan.

In terms of sales, according to Toyota China, sales in January 2021 were 148,800 units, down 21.5% year-on-year. By brand, GAC Toyota's sales in the month increased by 0.8% y/y to 87,500 units, while FAW Toyota's sales fell 46.0% year-on-year to 41,000 units.
