Alan Clarke has worked at Tesla for more than a decade, and he began his role as a Senior Design Engineer in 2009, working on several projects, including the Model S's iconic door handle.

LinkedIn page shows that Alan Clarke has been involved in:

Model X – Advanced engineering, integration of front and rear drivetrains, integration of high voltage power distribution, manufacture of all enclosed panels

Mechanical design of Model S battery housings – design and development of aluminium construction and steel covers, including castings, extrusions and stampings, as well as a wide range of connection and sealing technologies

Advanced design of front and rear suspension and steering systems, including Catia kinematic modeling for Model S

Model S Vehicle Suite Owners – Push to resolve integration issues

Model S outer door handle concept mechanism and first prototype design to prove the production concept

Four years ago, Alan Clarke was promoted to director of project engineering, leading the roadster project for the supercar cars, the vehicle architecture of the Model 3 and Model Y, and the construction of the Cybertruck electric pickup.

IT House understands that Alan Clarke announced this week that it has accepted a position in Ford's advanced electric vehicle development group. He will join the Doug Field team, which also held top engineering roles at Tesla for many years before moving to Ford after a stint at Apple.
