The original Tonale concept was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, and today's production version retains the concept's name.

In terms of power, Tonale has two electrified specifications, MHEV (Gasoline-Electric Hybrid) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid), the former using a four-cylinder 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a 7-speed TCT dual-clutch transmission and a 48V electric motor that can start in electric mode, drive at low speeds and cruise, and produce 128 horsepower or 158 horsepower.
