1#: Perhaps the most powerful off-road coach
Regarding the photos of this off-road bus, I believe that all truck enthusiasts or off-road enthusiasts have seen it many times. This unique coach has a volvo FMX front face, super huge widened tires, plus equipment such as roof light stands, and it looks like an absolute fierce character.
So, what is the sacredness of this special bus? In fact, it belongs to the Icelandic tourism company Sleipnir Tours. Iceland has rugged terrain with many glaciers and snow-capped mountains. In order to transport tourists, companies must adopt this unique vehicle. The chassis of this bus is built by the American fire truck chassis company: E-One, with a Volvo FMX front face, and the windshield is from Rheinmetall-Mann's HX military card, which can also be regarded as a "stitching monster".
The vehicle features Caterpillar's C18 engine, which has 850 hp and more than 3,000 Nm of torque, and is matched to Allison's 7-speed automatic transmission. Coupled with the blessing of oversized off-road tires, central inflation and deflation systems, its off-road capabilities are beyond doubt. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with 48 comfortable seats, air conditioning systems and sunroofs to ensure a comfortable journey.
While powerful, it's costly enough. The Caterpillar C18 engine does not meet the emission standards for road trucks, and its oversized profile of 15 meters long, 3.5 meters wide and 4.2 meters high also prevents it from traveling on the road. Moreover, the fuel consumption of more than 45 liters per 100 kilometers is also prohibitive. In addition, the cost of the vehicle reached 70 million ISK, which is almost 3.5 million yuan.
2#: A new era of "half-track chariots"?

And between the front and rear axles, the vehicle is also equipped with a track drive system. The unusual drive configuration, combined with its square cabin tops, gives an extremely mysterious feel.
Although this model is extremely rare, it is not difficult to understand its use. Based on the words on the side of the vehicle, we can tell that the truck belongs to the German company Geotechnik Heiligenstadt. According to their self-introduction, the company is mainly engaged in geophysical measurement and sampling. At this point, the purpose of this unique truck is already clear.
Since measurement and sampling often need to be carried out in the field without roads. In order to guarantee passability, the vehicle must use a track drive system with stronger off-road performance and a larger grounding area. The system is hydraulically driven by a power take-off. In addition, there are some unique equipment on the car, such as drill bits for mining cores. In order to ensure stability during work, a track system is also required as a support, which is a multi-purpose solution.
3#: There is a trailer dragging behind the bus, what is this for?
VDL, a well-known European bus company, recently uploaded several images on its Facebook page. At first glance, the buses in these pictures are no different, but if you look closely at the tails of these buses, they all pull a strange single-axle trailer. What is this for? According to VDL, this trailer is mainly for the future hydrogen fuel transformation needs.
The trailer is part of a modular hydrogen-fueled bus that VDL plans to develop. Although it is not difficult to develop a new hydrogen fuel bus, the purchase cost of hydrogen fuel vehicles is too high for those bus operators. Moreover, a large part of Europe's traffic is intercity traffic, and it is unrealistic to expand hydrogen refueling stations to these places. Therefore, VDL launched this trailer, which has a complete fuel cell system and hydrogen storage tank inside, which can power the electric bus through cables. At the same time, a battery trailer is also available to give the vehicle a longer range.
4#: Too pull-out Phoenix who had craniotomy
Saying it had "craniotomy" isn't just a joke, because it really looks so much like it. This unique Phoenix 8x8 model was modified by the German company Paul. On the basis of its sleeper cab, the rear and right walls of the cab were completely hollowed out and fitted with a set of "glass rooms".
Why is this modification for? In fact, this unique truck is mainly used in the forestry field, such as chippers, wood loaders, all need such special truck chassis to modify. The oversized glass allows the driver to better control the machinery and get the job done. For ease of use, Paul installed three large size wipers for the truck and installed corresponding LED work lights for added safety.
After the modification, it is roughly like the picture above. This "glass room" is used as an operating room for wood cranes and chippers, where drivers can get out of the car to complete their work, enhancing safety and increasing work efficiency. However, the price of this modification is naturally not cheap.
5# Alfa Romeo is out of the truck?
The last truck in this presentation, from a reader's contribution, is an Alfa Romeo truck. The headlight design, front grille design and body curve of the vehicle are more harmonious, with a strong Alfa Romeo style. Could it be that Alfa Romeo is out of the truck again?
In fact, this series of trucks is just a set of conceptual designs from a Korean designer: Taekang Lee. The designer made Alfa Romeo's triangular grille design huge, covering the entire front face of the vehicle. Later, Alfa Romeo's four-leaf clover shape was added behind the doors, representing the high performance of the vehicle.
The designer said the vehicle will use a road version of the Cursor 16 engine with 855 horsepower, regaining the title of European horsepower king. However, Alfa Romeo currently has no plans to launch a modern truck, and this set of designs can only stay on paper in the end. From the shape of the cab side and the shape of the roof filter, we can infer that this truck is based on the Mercedes-Benz Actos magic, which is very interesting.
However, Alfa Romeo did launch truck products in the last century, such as the Mille truck in the picture above, and also produced a lot of Van vans. After entering the 21st century, Alfa Romeo has never produced commercial vehicle products again.
