The U.S. Navy purchased an additional 9 CH-53K heavy helicopters to support expeditionary operations in the Indo-Pacific region

Defense Blog Network reported on February 9 that the US Navy recently awarded Lockheed Martin's subsidiary - Sikorsky Aircraft Company a new contract to purchase 9 CH-53K "Stallion King" heavy helicopters.

The new CH-53K heavy helicopter will further support the U.S. Marine Corps' mission to conduct expeditionary heavy assaults and transport armored vehicles, equipment, and personnel to support distributed operations deep inland from the maritime operations center, which is critical in the Indo-Pacific region.

The U.S. Marine Corps plans to purchase a total of 200 Stallion King heavy helicopters, and the additional nine Stallion King helicopters are part of the plan, and these helicopters will be delivered starting in 2025.

Bill Falk, head of the CH-53K program at Sikorsky Aircraft Company, said: "By employing flexible, predictive logistical support and maintenance, we are enabling the crew of ch-5K helicopters to make more informed and faster decisions to improve reliability and, while reducing the burden on the naval fleet, their combat readiness and availability of materials." ”

"After 50 years of supporting the CH-53E helicopter, Sikorsky Aircraft has a deep understanding of heavy transport missions and a lasting partnership with the U.S. Marine Corps, which allows our team and proven supply chain to provide tailored solutions to perform missions more efficiently," Falk said. ”

The CH-53K Stallion King is the best heavy helicopter built by the U.S. government to date. It is a brand new heavy helicopter that will enhance the ability of the Navy fleet to deliver more supplies faster. The CH-53K heavy helicopter is equipped with three of General Electric's new T-408 engines, which are more powerful and fuel-efficient than the T-64 engines currently used by ch-53E helicopters.
