After the death of extinct prehistoric creatures, although fossils are often left for later generations to study, most of them are found in the form of broken remains chimeric rocks, which makes the preciousness of the "perfect fossils" preserved in amber self-evident. Scientists have found a rare amber fossil in Myanmar that contains a lizard species never seen before during the Cretaceous period, and is perfectly preserved.

In a recent study published in the authoritative journal Science Reports, paleontologists confirmed that in an amber specimen unearthed in a mine in northern Myanmar, the well-preserved lizard wrapped in it was a completely new species, and named it "Retinosaurus hkamtiensis".

Dating, the lizard dates back 110 million years from the Cretaceous period, when dinosaurs were still roaming the world, and the protagonist of the specimen was surrounded by araucaria resin in a tragic accident, and although he unfortunately died, his remains were nearly perfectly preserved for more than 100 million years.

The report shows that this lizard not only has a good skeleton, but also maintains a fairly perfect appearance such as skin and scales on the surface of the body, which gives scientists a rare opportunity to quickly identify it as a completely new species, which is of great help for further research in related fields.
