Yin Jiliang, director of the Cultural Relics Management Office of the Yishui County Culture and Tourism Bureau, told Lightning News that on August 16, 2020, he received a photo sent by a local media reporter, recognized that the photo was a fossil, and immediately asked about the source of the fossil.

The media reporter told him that a friend found the fossil while fishing, took a photo and sent it to the circle of friends. After inquiring about the specific location of the fossils found, Yin Jiliang immediately drove there. It is this small act that makes the ruins that have been sealed for tens of thousands of years gradually appear in front of the world.
Li Gang, deputy research librarian of the Shandong Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, who is presiding over the archaeological excavation work at the site, told the lightning news reporter that the second excavation of the site will begin in March this year, although the age has been determined to be 104,000 years, but further down the excavation, the age may be even older, "The age of the Site of the Mountain is very important, and it is also to solve and answer the international hot question, that is, whether the modern people in East Asia are of native origin or originate from Africa, adding a very important information." ”
