#Chongqing Headlines #African World Heritage Site: Borgor Mountain is located in The city of Kailimai in northern Sudan province, 400 kilometers north of Khartoum, and is a lonely mountain in the desert more than 100 meters high, next to a strangely shaped and unusually steep mountain. As early as the 15th century BC, around 1450 BC, the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Thutmose III expanded his territory into the area and regarded it as the southern border. He sent troops to the vicinity of Nabata, which became the capital of the Kush Empire some 300 years later. King Piye of Nubia in the Twenty-fifth Dynasty of Ancient Egypt later vigorously expanded the temple of Amun in the new kingdom and erected a victory stone that reigned for twenty years.

In 2003, the Borgor Mountains and the Nabata area were approved by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for inscription on the World Heritage List as cultural heritage in accordance with criteria (i) (ii) (iii) (iv) (vi) for the selection of cultural heritage.

The five archaeological sites of the Borgor Mountains and the Nabata region, spread over a 60-kilometer radius of the Nile Valley, are historical testimonies to the Nabata culture of the Second Kingdom of Kush (900 BC to 270 BC) and the Meroe culture (270 BC to 350 AD). In these 5 sites, archaeologists have also found a large number of buildings such as mausoleums, temples, residential areas and palaces with or without pyramids. The Borgor Mountains have been closely linked to religious traditions and local folklore since ancient times. In the eyes of the locals, the largest temple complex in The Borgor Mountains is still an extremely sacred place.
