Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard Layout Cloud Games, Microsoft has a new move.

On Monday, Microsoft posted a post on its job site to hire a director of digital currency development, looking for professionals who can help companies expand in the digital currency space and, most importantly, Web 3.0.

In the job posting, Microsoft mentioned that the position belongs to the Ai and Emerging Technologies business development team, needs to "understand the Web 3.0 market, and will be responsible for "evaluating potential acquisitions" and improving "product usage and increased adoption."

Other requirements and responsibilities for the position include:

Laying the foundation for supporting and promoting Microsoft's Web 3.0 strategy;

Advising leadership on key technology and product roadmap considerations;

Work with engineering teams across the company to understand when existing infrastructure can be leveraged, enhanced, or built;

Develop a vision, strategy, and roadmap for Microsoft's Web 3.0 collaboration model, including infrastructure and APIs;

Cross-functional collaboration with engineering and other cross-functional teams to develop business development builds, purchases, partner landscapes.

The post also gave a more in-depth description of the role's responsibilities, including people management, customer and partner attention, collaboration strategy, negotiation, and, more importantly, deal management— a sign that Microsoft intends to expand its footprint in the crypto finance space through an acquisition-focused strategy.

Web 3.0, often understood as the decentralized ecology of the Internet today, is now sometimes used as synonymous with cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, virtual reality/augmented reality, and metaverses.

In fact, for the layout of Web 3.0, Microsoft has started from the time it developed its cloud business. The cloud business also lived up to expectations and became one of Microsoft's most profitable departments.

According to Microsoft's quarterly report in October 2021, the cloud business has become the biggest thrust of the company's revenue, and the intelligent cloud business, including Azure public cloud, enterprise services, GitHub, etc., achieved revenue of $16.98 billion, exceeding expectations.

On the basis of the underlying cloud computing, Microsoft has further expanded into cloud games, acquiring a series of game manufacturers, including Blizzard Activision, pointing to the meta-universe.

After laying out the metaverse, Microsoft's involvement in cryptocurrencies this time has taken a step closer to Web 3.0.
