"Qian Liqun Talks about Lu Xun" + "Selected Readings of Lu Xun's Newly Edited Works by Qian Liqun"
Qian Liqun
Print Culture and World Publishing Company of the World
January 2022
Chinese good book review| Lu Mei
When we read Lu Xun, perhaps the most important thing is to simplify and apply Lu Xun, or even go to the opposite side, study Lu Xun and deviate from lu Xun's spirit. So, how to maximize the return to Lu Xun, rediscover Lu Xun, and often read Chang Xin Lu Xun?
In the book "Qian Liqun Talks About Lu Xun", the author begins with "Why do we need Lu Xun today", starting from the two novels that Lu Xun is most satisfied with, dissecting Lu Xun's calm aesthetics and Wei Jin complex, experiencing the complex expression of Lu Xun's novels as "open texts", feeling the "Lu Xun-style tension" and "Lu Xun-style cold air", such a study of Lu Xun as a method is also full of Qian Liqun-style wisdom, and also infused with Qian Liqun-style hot eyes.
Another "Selected Readings of Lu Xun's Works", the introduction begins with "talk to Lu Xun 'casually'", with how to see, how to think, how to say, how to write, how to read, how to behave, how to do things, layer by layer peeling the onion style of selection + introduction, relive the thinking written by Lu Xun in those years, in order to resonate with today's young life.
The two books are the soul dialogue between the scholar Qian Liqun and "Lu Xun living in china at present"; they are frank exchanges with another voice and another possibility, and they are a panoramic display of Lu Xun's ideological brilliance and spiritual temperament.
Politics: Forty Lectures of Han Feizi
By Ren Jiantao
Guangxi Normal University Press
December 2021
Chinese good book reviews | Yang Early
At the end of the Warring States period, the changes in the laws of the various countries all went in the direction of the legalists, in fact, it has been explained that its adaptability is timely, and only the legalists, especially the ideas of Han Fei, have made the best design from the monarchy to the imperial system. The formation of the Yang Confucian and Yin Laws in later generations is also the result of the interaction between politics and political thought. Reinterpreting Han Fei's thought is the best way to enter into an understanding of ancient Chinese political formation. In this book, which can be called an encyclopedia of ancient Chinese politics, there are many ideas that later became institutions, as well as ideas that emperors discarded. "Politics: Forty Lectures on Han Fei" is precisely to help readers take off their colored glasses and calmly look at "Han Feizi", a crutch of this protracted political masterpiece.
"Paradise" after the Disaster: Suzhou City Life after the Fall of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression
Wu Ren forgave
University Q. Guangxi Normal University Press
November 2021
Chinese good book review| Yu Ge
The study of the history of the War of Resistance was either concentrated on the battlefield or tended to the rear, while the occupied areas were refrigerated. A few years ago, when I read Bu Zhengmin's "The Fall of Order: The Five Cities of Jiangnan in the Early Stage of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression" (Taiwan's Yuanliu edition translated as "Collaborating with the Enemy"), I was suddenly refreshed, but unfortunately its exposition was slightly too brief, which inevitably made the reader feel that it was not exhausted.
The subtitle Jiangnan Five Cities refers to Jiading, Zhenjiang, Nanjing, Shanghai, and Chongming. Wu Renshu's "Paradise after the Disaster: Suzhou City Life after the Fall of the War of Resistance" focuses on Suzhou, which is adjacent to the five cities, and the theme is almost the same as "The Fall of Order", which can make up for the lack of the people. In contrast, "The Fall of Order" is attributed to political history, while "Paradise" after the Disaster is close to the history of society and life.
Look at the author's "four pavilions" (teahouse, restaurant, hotel and tobacco house), all of which belong to the city well, and are ideal as pipes to glimpse the daily appearance of a city - how it falls from heaven to hell under fire, and how it rises from hell to "heaven" after the cannon fire. Behind that deformed prosperity, there is a fierce game of geopolitical, power, economic, and social psychological elements. Only by considering it with a cooling historical gaze can we gradually approach the truth buried by time and ashes.
Sea Shells and Shell Coins: A Little-Known Global History
By Yang Bin
Oracle Social Sciences Academic Press
Chinese good book review| Zhang Mingyang
What was the first global currency in human history? Mr. Yang Bin, a professor of history at the University of Macau, concluded: Shell coin. According to the book "Haibei and Beibei", the shell coins from Haibei not only passed in India, Southeast Asia and West Africa for 1500 years, forming the so-called "Bei coin world"; and bei coins were also used in Yunnan in the Yuan and Ming Dynasties.
It was not until the end of the nineteenth century that the world of Shell Coins was dying. Prior to this, Benocoin even played a key role in the Industrial Revolution in Western Europe.
The World of Mountains and Seas: Monsters, All Things and the Starry Sky
By Liu Zongdi
Sichuan People's Publishing House
The Classic of Mountains and Seas is divided into the Classic of Mountains and the Classic of Seas. Liu Zongdi wrote The Lost Book of Heaven: And the Ancient Chinese WorldView, which focuses on the study of the Haijing, while the new work " The World: Monsters, All Things and the Starry Sky " focuses on the study of the Mountain Classic. He was very dismissive of the popular readings on the market about the Classic of Mountains and Seas, calling them "kitsch on roadside stalls with commercial logic and popular aesthetic packaging", believing that these "popular readings everywhere" actually obscured the road to the treasures of the Classic of Mountains and Seas. It was he who vowed to reinterpret the Classic of Mountains and Seas to answer three questions: Is the Classic of Mountains and Seas a monster? Is it a yokai spectrum? Is it a mythical book? The answer is clearly no. So what kind of book is the Classic of Mountains and Seas? Interested readers may wish to open "The World" and the heavier "Lost Book of Heaven". Although it is written in a serious way, the writing is quite refined and not difficult to read.
"In the Afterglow of Lu Xun"
Written by Sun Yu
Guangdong People's Publishing House
October 2021
Chinese good book review | Yang Qingxiang
Mr. Sun Yu is praised for his Lu Xun research and prose writing in the contemporary literary world, but he does not know that he has been deeply involved in contemporary literary criticism for many years and has made outstanding achievements. Different from the general approach of criticism, Mr. Sun Yu takes Lu Xun as the origin of his thinking, continues to enlighten and show humanity, and what he sees in the works of contemporary writers is Lu Xun's "afterglow" and "echo". Wang Zengqi, Mu Xin, Li Helin, Wang Yao, Mo Yan, Chen Zhongzhong... In Mr. Sun Yu's observation, they are all engaged in dialogue with Lu Xun, near or far, overtly or covertly, and Mr. Sun Yu values the spirit of this dialogue and thinks that this is a precious spiritual existence in contemporary literature. The book "In the Afterglow of Lu Xun" is not only a spiritual history of contemporary writers and scholars, but also a self-portrait of Mr. Sun Yu's soul.

The Biography of Wang Yangming: The Focus of Chinese Political and Intellectual History in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries
By Li Qing
Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House
Chinese good book review | Zhang Hong
According to the Confucian point of view, Wang Yangming has made achievements in virtue, speech, and meritorious service, which can be described as a "perfect person", and his Yangming studies have a huge influence on future generations and are quite controversial. However, the previous biography of Wang Yangming was lacking in the collection, examination and research angle of historical materials, and even mistook the legend for truth. Li Qing's book "The Biography of Wang Yangming: The Focus of Chinese Political History and Intellectual History in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries" lasted about 40 years from brewing to the collection of historical materials, to the annotation of poems, and then to the writing of a book. The author has an in-depth discussion of Wang Yangming's life experience, character personality, ideological theories and emotions, including many unique insights. Whether it is to understand the life and deeds of Wang Yangming or the essence of Yangming studies, this book can be used as an important reference.
"Difficult to Ruin the Vicissitudes of the Era: The Career of a Journalist in Modern China (1912-1937)"
By Lu Pengcheng
Oriental Publishing Center
As the title of the preface suggests, this is a "panoramic picture" of the professionalization of journalists in modern times. The book scans the professionalization and organization of journalists; the cooperation and entanglement of journalists and newspaper owners; the interview networks constructed by journalists; the sources, uses and influences of journalists' communication fees; the relationship between journalists and politicians; and the journalists' struggle against censorship... and a dozen other aspects. I have never seen a book written in such a comprehensive scan of China's modern journalist community before. The advantage of panoramic writing is that it outlines the context of modern journalism, so that readers can grasp the pulse of modern journalism from the macro and detail levels.
The Cultural Space of Beijing in the Late Qing Dynasty
Xia Xiaohong
Peking University Publishing Company
Good Chinese book reviews| green tea
Different from Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and other port cities, which are mainly distribution centers for new knowledge and new lifestyles, the significance of "late Qing Beijing" lies in the symbiosis of the old and new, the negotiation of scholars, the mixed residence of flags and Han, and the integration of traditional politics and religion with modern civilization. This cultural space not only loses its inherent political resources, but also has special symbolic significance in a series of cultural transformation processes such as the "Chinese and Western learning war" in the late Qing Dynasty, the conflict between new and old societies, the change of up-down relations between the upper and lower levels, and the change of Chinese and foreign customs. This book regards late Qing Dynasty Beijing as a "cultural space", explores the symbiotic relationship between various communities using diverse expressions on various occasions, and strives to intertwine and present the cultural ecology and urban character of this special historical cross-section of Late Qing Beijing.
