Preface to "Jinshi Tonghui - Invitation Exhibition of National Famous Artists Rubbing Inscription"

In the 21st century, when there are many art styles, especially the explosion of information, rubbings and related art forms can indeed be called niches; for ordinary people, it is not surprising to describe it as "quite a diaphragm". Therefore, the Chongqing Municipal People's Auditorium launched a unique special exhibition such as "Jinshi Tonghui - National Famous Artists Rubbing Inscription Invitation Exhibition" that I think is particularly precious.
Rubbing can be said to be an ancient artistic form produced in the reproduction technology of rubbing. The copied object can be bronze, stone carving, woodcut and tile and other utensils, and some literati or craftsmen use rice paper and ink to clearly and vividly reproduce the inscriptions, words, images, etc. on the aforementioned objects through certain methods and techniques for collection, observation or dissemination.
In ancient times, transportation was inconvenient, transmission was not easy, the original was hidden, the original work was rare, and it was difficult to see the original appearance; especially the wentu on the rock carvings on the cliffs in remote areas was more difficult to contact and observe. All these things, let alone peep into its mysteries, taste its charm.
Just as the important value characteristics of "scarcity" in economics, spiritual and cultural products are also chased by people because of "scarcity".
Ouyang Xiu, one of the eight masters of the Tang and Song dynasties, was called "LiuYi Layman". The "Biography of the June 1st Householder" said: "My family has a collection of 10,000 volumes, a collection of 1,000 volumes of Jinshi relics since three generations, a piano sheet, a chess game, and often a pot of wine." He also said, "Isn't it six and one that I am old between these five things?" Among them, "a thousand volumes of Jinshi relics since three generations of collections" has a lot to do with rubbing, which can also be seen in its precious status.
Gu Kaizhi and other calligraphers and painters of all generations also loved to engrave inscriptions and so on to chase their charm.
In modern times, there are also many people who love and collect rubbings.
According to Lu Xun's diary in 1915 (Yi Di's diary) on October 4, "Qing. In the morning, Fuhua Pavilion sent 137 pieces of miscellaneous Chinese paintings, all scattered in Jiaxiang, Wenshang, and Jinlang, and the Tuo was not good, and they were purchased for fourteen yuan. ”
According to researchers, Lu Xun has purchased more than 6,000 kinds of rubbings. Among them, Lu Xun especially loves Han Tuo, with profound research and unique experience.
It can be seen that today's niche has been warmly welcomed. It is not surprising that artistic trends, ups and downs, are not surprising.
Rubbings, especially the important original rubbings, are precious for the following reasons:
First, we can learn from the source of civilization and the face of society. The ancient golden stone culture is very brilliant, forming a unique Chinese tradition of epigraphy, and rubbing occupies an important position in epigraphy. From the rubbings of "Jinshi Tonghui - Invitation Exhibition of National Famous Rubbings", we can see various social features such as gods, sacred beasts, sacrifices, wars, banquets, travel, entertainment, salt mining, agricultural affairs, etc., as well as various utensils such as buildings, carriages and horses, clothing, weapons, and tools. These rubbings can be used as evidence-based and have unique cognitive and historical value.
Second, various inscriptions, various fonts, and various patterns are closely related to each era, reflecting the cultural characteristics and aesthetic tastes of different eras. These are important resources for calligraphers and painters and cultural researchers to study and research.
Third, it is collected as one of the collections and exchanged and traded.
"Jinshi Tonghui - Invitation Exhibition of National Famous Artists Rubbing Inscription" has the word "inscription", which has formed new artistic characteristics.
Can it be said that the original and the original work are primary, the original is secondary, and the "inscription" on the rubbing is the third, which is based on the artistic expansion of the original extension.
Any excellent golden stone "inscription", I think at least the following two points:
First, describe its background and trace its source. It can be used to introduce the original, the era, place, content (including naming), inheritance and preciousness of the original work, and there can be twists and turns of the original. This is evidence-based.
Second, highlight the main body, avoid "stealing the scene" and grabbing the main body, and the "inscription" should complement the text or image in the original extension. The size of the characters in the "inscription", the choice of fonts, the intensity of the color used in ink, and how to use the seal should be in place and exquisite. At the same time, attention must be paid to the overall layout to form a good spatial composition relationship.
In addition, different calligraphers and painters have successively "inscribed" on the same rubbing, and the latter should also maintain their personal characteristics in "humility" to form a harmonious whole.
In this way, the spirit of the view is refreshing, and the aftertaste of the product is endless.
This exhibition has received a positive response from collectors of Jinshi rubbings from all over the country, who have sent many rubbing "inscription" treasures from different provinces and cities, enabling us to feast our eyes. Many local artists, writers and poetry celebrities in Chongqing heard about it and actively participated in it, accompanied by poems and paintings, and carefully "inscribed" to add luster to the exhibition. Therefore, the scale of this exhibition is very large.
Here, I would like to thank the Chongqing Municipal People's Auditorium Management Office for hosting this unexpected and innovative exhibition. Under the meticulous organization of the leaders of the Great Hall Management Office, the exhibition space was reasonably expanded and arranged, so that the ancient art of Jinshi rubbing would shine with new brilliance in the Chongqing Municipal People's Auditorium.
