Blue Whale Automobile reported on February 7 that the second plant of Dongfeng DPCA in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone has been taken over by Dongfeng Honda, which will transform the plant into a new factory specializing in the production of pure electric vehicles.

In January this year, Dongfeng Honda signed an investment agreement with wuhan economic development zone for a new electric vehicle plant project to build a new plant specializing in the production of electric vehicles. According to public information, the plant covers an area of 630,000 square meters and is scheduled to be officially put into operation in 2024, with a basic annual production capacity of 120,000 units at the beginning. In October last year, Honda launched a new pure electric brand e:N in China and announced that Dongfeng Honda will build a new pure electric vehicle plant in China and put it into operation in 2024.

According to the report, the Shenlong Second Factory is the new energy factory that Dongfeng Honda previously announced to settle in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone.

In fact, in October 2017, it was reported that the second plant of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile would be transferred to Dongfeng Honda. At that time, the first plant of DPCA was about to undergo large-scale upgrading, including the introduction of the production line of the models produced by the second plant.

DPCA operates three factories in Wuhan and has an engine and gearbox production plant in Xiangyang. The Chengdu plant, the fourth vehicle plant of DPCA, was officially completed and put into use in September 2016, and has been closed for a holiday since the beginning of 2017. Among them, the annual production capacity of the second plant of DPCA is more than 150,000 units, mainly responsible for the production of C5, C6, 508 and other high-end models.
