Why OFILM?
We all know that Apple, which is the first in the field of mobile phones, has many foundry factories around the world, and China is no exception, the most famous of which is Naturally Foxconn, and OFILM is naturally one of them. In cooperation with Apple, OFILM was once responsible for one-third of Apple's orders, with an annual interest rate of 300 million. However, why would such a giant company be abandoned by Apple?
OEM processing is in the downstream of the industrial chain, the scientific and technological content is low, and the profit is not as good as other parts of the industrial chain. Therefore, the foundry is generally in an area where the labor force is relatively low. From the early days of reform and opening up to the beginning of the 21st century, China's cheap labor attracted a large number of enterprises to set up processing plants in China. However, with the rapid development of China's economy, china's labor force is no longer as cheap as southeast Asian countries, so Apple chose to relocate the foundry in order to obtain greater profits.
Why not Foxconn?
Since the foundry factory was relocated, why was OFILM canceled instead of Foxconn?
Compared with OFILM, Foxconn's assembly process is more mature and standardized, the efficiency of the assembly line is higher, and compared with OFILM, Foxconn has more important patent rights, which leads to even if the profit brought by a single mobile phone is not as good as that of Southeast Asian processing plants, but Apple still did not casually cancel the cooperation with Foxconn, because Foxconn's output is higher.
Of course, there is a more important influence, that is, the US government. In order to curb China's development, export control regulations have been established, requiring U.S. companies to gradually stop cooperating with Chinese companies on the control list, and OFILM is one of them. Foxconn is not on this list because it is headquartered in Taiwan and not Chinese mainland.
Brings a cautionary effect
Since the cancellation of cooperation with Apple, although there are still orders from domestic companies such as Xiaomi and Huawei, the situation of OFILM has been declining, and it is reported that OFILM lost nearly 70 million yuan in one quarter. This reflects how much OFILM relies on Apple. This has also brought some warning effect to the development of our national enterprises.
In fact, OFILM did not make efforts, but also understood that without science and technology can not go long, so OFILM once spent 1.5 billion yuan to acquire Sony Electronics South China Co., Ltd., and obtained the patent right of Apple's mobile phone camera group and packaging technology. Unfortunately, this does not help, because with the replacement of Apple's mobile phones, these technologies are relatively backward. As a result, officine, which had no patents, was abandoned.
