A few days ago, the high-performance electric brand Polestar officially released a set of official pictures of the Polestar 2 Arctic Circle prototype. The new car is based on the Polestar 2 dual-motor version of the model, which can be understood as a special model built for the ice and snow cold environment of the Arctic Circle, and the positioning is somewhat close to the rally car. At present, according to official news, there is no mass production plan for new cars, but the data collected in the trial of modification and testing will certainly help the development of new cars in the future.
In terms of appearance, the new car as a whole continues the design of the ordinary version of the Polestar 2 model, the flat grille is decorated with black mesh-like trim strips, and the headlights in the shape of Quake are not only very sharp, but also highly recognizable. At the same time, the new car is special in that it has four separate lights at the front of the car and a bright yellow trailer hook, and the overall effect is closer to the style of rally racing.
In addition to lighting, the new car has also upgraded the chassis and walking devices for tensile needs, and the chassis ground clearance of the new car has been increased by 30 mm compared with the ordinary version of the model, allowing the new car to have stronger passing performance, and the longer suspension travel can also help the new car better absorb the impact of the wheels and suspension during the intense driving. Of course, Ohlins brand shock absorbers and Brembo four-piston brake calipers will still appear on new cars, and these ordinary versions of polestar 2 can also be installed as an option. At the same time, the new car was equipped with rims from OZ Racing, with a tire size of 245/35 R19, and 490 studs were installed on each tire to ensure grip on snow and ice roads.
In terms of power performance, the new car is based on the Polestar 2 dual motor version of the model, also equipped with front and rear dual motors, but the comprehensive power of the system has increased from 408 horsepower in domestic models to 476 horsepower, and it is expected that the new car will also make adjustments in the chassis and the temperature control system of the motor and battery pack.
