In addition to announcing the off-line production of id.5 and ID.5 GTX, the original factory also released detailed specifications for ID.5. First of all, in the power system part, the original factory planned three grades including Pro, Pro Performance and GTX, and the whole vehicle system adopted a 77 kWh lithium battery pack; the most basic Pro and intermediate Pro Performance versions were in a single motor configuration, with a maximum horsepower output of 128 kW (174 PS) and 150 kW (204 PS), and the maximum cruising range under the WLTP specification was 520 km and had the highest 135kW charging speed.

As for the performance flagship version ID.5 GTX, although the battery capacity is also 77kWh, it benefits from the charging speed of up to 150kW, and the original emphasizes that it takes only 6 minutes to provide an endurance of about 100 kilometers. In addition, the ID.5 GTX is the only model with a dual motor configuration, giving it a power output of up to 220 kW (299 PS) and a maximum range of 490 km under the WLTP specification.

On the other hand, the mass production of the ID.5 series also makes Zwickau the first base of the Volkswagen Group to specialize in the production of electric vehicles, and in addition to the ID.5, a total of 6 models are produced here, including the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Q4 Sportback e-tron and CUPRA Born. The original manufacturer said that the formal transformation of Zwickau will be of considerable help to the 2022 target of selling 1.2 million MEB electric platform vehicles per year in the three major markets in Europe and the United States.
