Zhongxin Online, 2 Feb (Xinhua) -- In the early morning of the second day of the Chinese New Year, the Captain of a Chinese vessel passing through Shanghai waters suddenly fell ill and was in critical condition. Under the premise of strictly implementing the measures to prevent the import of the epidemic, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station launched the plan at the first time, opened a "full closed-loop green channel", and timely rescued the injured and sick captains to enter the country for medical treatment.

According to the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station, at about 1 a.m. on the 2nd, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station received an urgent request for help: When the Liberian ship "Formosa Plastics Chunhui" passed through Shanghai waters, the Captain of the Chinese ship suddenly had a severe headache, numbness in his mouth and tongue, suspected cerebral thrombosis after preliminary examination, and urgently needed to be sent to the hospital for treatment, and requested the border inspection organ to provide entry facilities.

After receiving the request for help, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station immediately launched the rescue plan, checked the ship's sailing trajectory, the seafarers' itinerary trajectory and the health status of the seafarers of the whole ship at the first time, and quickly opened up a "full closed-loop green channel" under the condition of making every effort to protect the epidemic, ensuring that the whole process was seamlessly connected, and forming a closed loop of epidemic prevention and control, racing against time to complete the entry procedures for the injured and sick captain, and won valuable time for his timely medical treatment.

At present, the captain has received timely medical treatment and is in a stable condition.

It is understood that under the current severe situation of "foreign defense import", the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station has actively fulfilled its humanitarian assistance obligations on the basis of resolutely blocking the import of the epidemic and effectively maintaining the security and stability of the port, and has made every effort to do a good job in the emergency rescue of injured and sick seafarers on the ship. In 2021, the Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station rescued a total of 68 Chinese and foreign seafarers. (End)
