Sanxingdui unearthed the world's largest, debuted at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala!
Ran Honglin, director of the Sanxingdui Archaeological Research Institute of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, deputy director of the Sanxingdui Museum, and head of the archaeological excavation site in the Sanxingdui Sacrifice Area, and Zhang Guoguo, the host of the "National Treasure" program, officially released this major archaeological achievement to the people of the whole country on the spot, sent a special New Year gift to the national audience, and also paid tribute to the centenary of Chinese archaeology.
Why did sanxingdui bronze mask travel thousands of miles from Guanghan in Sichuan to Beijing to debut at the Spring Festival Gala?
On the spring evening of CCTV in the Year of the Ox, the head of the Tianlong Mountain Buddha who returned to China from Japan made a stunning appearance and became the hottest topic of the night. In 2021, coinciding with the centenary of the birth of modern Chinese archaeology, sanxingdui archaeological excavations continue to attract the attention of the Chinese people, and are active explorations of building modern archaeology with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style and Chinese style. It is in this context that Sanxingdui was invited to the CCTV Spring Festival Gala to tell the story of the diversity and unity of Chinese civilization and its profundity. This is also the first time that the newly unearthed large mask has "fully exposed" to meet the general audience.

On the afternoon of June 23, 2021, with the amazement and cheers of all the Sanxingdui archaeologists, this bronze mask broke through the ground and came to the world! It is more than 3,000 years old and is the largest and most complete bronze mask known today.
This large bronze mask is 131 cm wide, 71 cm high, 66 cm deep and weighs 65.5 kg, which is the largest bronze mask with the most complete shape, the largest volume and the best preservation condition unearthed in the world. The eyebrows, eyes, and lips of the mask are smooth and angular, the mask is "U" shaped, wide and wide, thick and long eyebrows are raised, and the solemn expression conveys a sense of prestige. In addition, there are square perforations on both sides of the mask and in the middle of the forehead, which may be used as a fixation. Bronze masks are typical artifacts in the Sanxingdui culture, and in general, they should be artifacts placed in temples for worship.

This year's Spring Festival Gala follows the previous dance highlights. The new works of Han Zhen and Zhou Liya, directors of the dance drama "The Electric Wave That Never Disappears", and the fragment of the dance poetry drama "Only This Green", after "Fishing Light Song", once again landed as an independent program at the Spring Festival Gala.
"No name, no money, only this one volume; green for a thousand years, mountains and rivers are boundless." A thousand years ago in the Song Dynasty, there was an 18-year-old genius teenager Wang Ximeng, with a unique mineral stone color made of turquoise ink dot dyeing long silk paintings, a thousand years later, the early death of the teenager left the "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" under the care of cultural relics restorers, the color is like a new view of the popularity, becoming one of the treasures of the palace museum, painting the magnificent beauty of mountain songs, green is still the same.
Dance poetry drama "Only This Green" - Dance Painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" takes "poetry drama" as the genre, with "exhibition volume, asking seals, singing silk, searching for stones, studying pen, quenching ink, entering the painting" and other chapters as the outline, a modern Forbidden City researcher, will lead the audience to wander in the legendary traditional Chinese aesthetic interest from the perspective of the exhibition volume, pay tribute to the excellent traditional Chinese culture, and their inheritors and innovators. "Only This Green" is performed by the China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, led by Meng Qingyang, the dance chief of the troupe.

Zhou Liya is also a young choreographer from Sichuan, she and Han Zhen are known as the gemini stars on the stage today, and have created a series of acclaimed and popular dance dramas such as "Shawan Past", "The Eternal Radio Wave", "Mulan" and so on, which are deeply loved by young people. In December 2021, "Only This Green" premiered in the west at the 2021 Daliangshan International Drama Festival, bringing the story of the Forbidden City's heavyweight cultural relics "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" to the stage and renewing the national treasure. At that time, Zhou Liya, the chief choreographer of the dance poetry drama "Only This Green", said: "When facing traditional culture, we need to be creative, but we must also be honest and innovative, and have a rigorous and reverent heart." ”

Therefore, in the process of creation, the main creative team of the dance poetry drama "Only This Green" not only read a large number of documents, but also invited experts from the Palace Museum and intangible cultural heritage inheritors of chinese painting paint, emblem ink, Xuan pen, Shuanglin Aya silk weaving and other production techniques as consultants. In the play, the seal engraver, the silk weaver, the grinding stone person, the pen maker, and the ink maker are all important figures, and are presented on the stage with different chapters such as "exhibition volume, seal questioning, silk singing, stone search, pen study, quenching ink, and painting", in order to pay tribute to the craftsmen and guardians who have silently dedicated themselves to the inheritance and development of traditional culture.
"'Only This Green' is freehand, so it's slow-paced." Zhou Liya once introduced, "You must 'pull' the hands of the audience and lead them slowly into the theater, slowly into the art, into the dance drama works." In this way, more audiences will like it, will really feel it, and thus like more dance drama works. Just like the theme of our theatre festival – theatre is us. Zhou Liya said.

As soon as the Spring Festival Gala began, the figure of our Sichuan stars appeared in the program "Happy and Auspicious Year", and the familiar Sichuan stars Zhang Guoguo, Xie Na's partner Ge You, Deng Chao and other stars sang a song together. Subsequently, Sichuan singers Li Yuchun, Yi Qianxi and Deng Chao brought the song and dance "Sense of the Times". Ji Kejunyi, a Yi singer from Daliangshan, performed the song and dance "True Love Dances" with Ren Jialun, Wang Yuan and Song Qian.
