Microsoft will make changes to the Xbox subscription service to allow users to better manage their subscriptions

Microsoft will make some changes to Xbox Live Gold and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. After changing the conditions of service, users should be able to more easily manage their subscription projects, and Microsoft will terminate those subscription projects that have not been used for a long time in certain cases, but users still have to continue to pay.

Microsoft will make changes to the Xbox subscription service to allow users to better manage their subscriptions

Microsoft's change came in response to an earlier question from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) about its subscription service. On the official government website, the CMA said it had reached an agreement with Microsoft that would prevent accidental renewals of two subscription services, Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.

Under this agreement, Microsoft will take the following measures to prevent users from accidentally renewing the service without their knowledge:

1. Microsoft will provide more transparent pre-subscription information to help users better understand their Xbox membership, such as stating that the subscription service will automatically renew unless the user manually turns off automatic renewal, when the subscription service will be renewed, how much the renewal costs, and how the user can refund after unexpected renewal.

2. Microsoft will contact existing 12-month subscribers and offer them the option to terminate the service and return the money on a pro-rata basis.

3. Microsoft will also try to contact users who still continue to pay for subscription services, but have not used these services for a long time, and remind them how to cancel their payments. If users still don't use these subscription services afterwards, Microsoft will eventually stop accepting payments from those users.

4. Microsoft will provide clearer indications when the price of subscription services rises, and will ensure that users know how to turn off automatic renewal if they do not want to continue using the services.

Although these changes are currently only applicable to the local market in the United Kingdom, Microsoft will also extend these changes to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass subscription services worldwide.
