BMW original factory today (1/26) announced a small revamp 8 Series Coupé / Gran Coupé / Covertible, as well as the M8 family, the small revamp is mainly in the general model to introduce a straight waterfall double kidney type luminous water tank shield, and in the interior from 10.25 inches, upgraded to 12.3 inches central control screen, but maintain the iDrive 7.0 interface settings, small revamps 8 Series and M8 domestic or will be introduced in the first half of the year. Today, the original factory also released the X2 Edition GoldPlay.
This generation of 8 Series was first launched in June 2018 Coupé models, followed by convertible Covertible, four-door Gran Coupé and other options, and the M8 family also launched Coupé/Gran Coupé/Covertible in 2019 A total of 3 body types. The car series has been out for nearly 4 years so far, and it has been reported that the small modification test car of the 8 Series family has been captured by foreign media overseas, and now the original factory officially launched a small modification in January 2022, and it is the small modification 8 Series and the M8 family that are unveiled at the same time.
First of all, in the small modification of the 8 Series part, the most obvious change in its appearance is its double kidney type water tank shield, although the shape area is not enlarged as expected by the outside world, but its general model is fully equipped with the original factory called BMW Iconic Glow after the small modification of the luminous double kidney water tank guard, and the straight grid in the double kidney is also changed from the past single rib type, to the U-shaped double Le vision, and the M850i power model is the first time in the water tank guard to add the M word emblem, and the whole car series is also high-end intelligent after the redesign Adaptive LED headlight sets are standard, and the air intakes on both sides of the front bumper have been adjusted.
On the side of the car, the M850i power model is equipped with an exclusive cerium gray rearview mirror set, the 840i and other power models are equipped with the M Sport Package exterior kit as standard, and two new sets of 20-inch M lightweight wheels are added under the foot. New colours include Skyscraper Grey metallic grey, San Remo Green metallic green, M Portimao Blue metallic blue, and Gauguin's BMW Individual exclusive Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic blue.
Compared with the more significant appearance changes of the general version of the 8 Series, the small modification M8 focuses on the addition of new car colors, which introduces a total of 8 new car colors, including 4 metallic colors and 4 matte colors. The four metallic colors are Skyscraper grey mectallic grey, Brooklyn Grey metallic grey, Isle of Man Green metallic green, and BMW Individual's exclusive lacquer tansanite blue metallic blue. The four new extinction colors are Frozen Pure Grey metallic gray, Frozen Deep Grey metallic gray, Frozen Deep Green metallic green, and Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic blue.
In addition to the car color, the small modification M8 also provides a new 20-inch star-spoke high-performance wheelset, and the smart laser headlights are also listed as standard throughout the car series. In addition, after the small modification, the M lights Shadow Line kit group was also provided for the first time, which was treated with dark color in many places such as the exterior air intake, and a unique chrome trim treatment was added to the lamp, and matched with a black high-gloss double kidney water tank shield to achieve its unique appearance recognition.
In terms of interior, the minorly revamped 8 Series and M8 dual-car series maintain the past iDrive 7.0 system and have not yet been upgraded to the brand's latest generation of iDrive 8.0 interface, but in addition to the digital instrument maintaining 12.3 inches, the original central 10.25-inch central touch screen has also been upgraded to a 12.3-inch central touch screen. For the M850i model, the standard M steering wheel also adds 3-color stitching and m8-like central basket empty treatment, bringing a more performance atmosphere. The interior of the car was also added with galvanized surface locks, windows, and seat memory buttons after a minor makeover. The M Sport Package comes standard with a variety of Merino leather interior colours.
In the interior part, the M8 is a new Merino leather and Alcantara suede mix and match interior, and can be wrapped in Sakhir Orange orange and black, and the seats are in addition to the standard M sports car dual front seats, and the M Carbon carbon cylinder seats are also available as an option.
In terms of power, the general 8 Series provides a variety of power options including 840i, 840i xDrive, M850i xDrive, 840d xDrive and other power options overseas, of which only 840d diesel is added to 48V light oil electric auxiliary. The 840i is expected to be maintained in China, which uses a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine with a maximum output of 333 hp/5,500 rpm, 500N.m/1,700 rpm, and no 48V light oil electric assist. The M850i maintains a 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine with 530 horsepower.
The M8 series of power parts, overseas minor modifications are currently only announced in advance Competition version, equipped with the original 4.4-liter V8 engine code S63, using M TwinPower twin-scroll twin-turbo technology, and with M Steptronic sporty 8-speed manual transmission, M xDrive sports car adjustable four-wheel drivetrain, engine output maintains maximum horsepower of 625 hp / 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 750N.m / 1,800 ~ 5,860 rpm, which can be completed in 3.2 seconds to complete the stationary acceleration of more than 100 km/h, the typical electronic speed of 250 km/ h, but the optional M Professional Driving Kit boosted to 305 km/ 305 km/ h.
X2 Edition GoldPlay Special Edition
BMW original also brought a special edition called X2 Edition GoldPlay to the X2 series today, which uses the exclusive San Remo Green green livery to provide exclusive San Remo Green paint, but the other 5 car color coatings are also available, including the double kidney water tank guard frame, mirror cover, wheelset, and body irregular line sticker, etc., all of which use exclusive Galvanic Gold plating gold coating. Inside the tank guard, there is a black mesh setting, and the 19-inch M rim set is standard under the foot, and the optional 20-inch M rim set is available, both of which are visually embellished with Galvanic Gold.
In the interior, X2 Edition GoldPlay's special car also adds the exclusive Galvanic Gold plating with the Edition logo car sill, the interior of the car is equipped with black Dakota leather M Sport seats, supplemented by gold visual stitching, in addition to the Dark Graphite dark gray car interior panel at the center console, but also attached to the irregular gold trim visual that echoes the outside of the car.
