There are still 9 days to go before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and the popular science project brought to you today is - Paralympic snowboarding!

Paralympic snowboarding was a sub-event of Paralympic alpine skiing at the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympic Winter Games, becoming an official event of the Winter Paralympic Games for the first time, and at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympic Games, Paralympic snowboarding was separated from Paralympic alpine skiing and became an independent snow sports event.

Athletes' competition equipment includes skis, ski boots, split clothing, helmets, ski goggles and assistive devices unique to athletes with disabilities, such as protective devices and prosthetics. The parameters of the skis are not clearly defined, and most athletes use racing skis when chasing competitions, which are faster and more stable when competing.

In the slope slalom, athletes glide for two rounds, and the final ranking is determined by the result of the shortest round. The obstacle course final is a two-person knockout format, in which the athletes start in pairs, and the athlete who passes the finish line first advances to the next round until the winner and runner-up are decided.
