At the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, Dongfeng Group said that it will build a new electric off-road vehicle platform MORV, and launch a new brand, in the Dongfeng "Oriental Wind Rise" plan, Dongfeng said it will focus on building Lantu, Dongfeng Fengshen and high-end electric off-road brands; in September of the same year, Zhu Yanfeng, chairman of Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd., said at the Third World New Energy Vehicle Conference that it would launch a new new energy product "M" in 2022. Cao Dongjie, deputy general manager of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicles, appointed CEO of "M Division".

On January 18, dongfeng high-end new energy off-road vehicle project officially started construction, is scheduled to be put into operation in 2023, with a planned annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles. Although the "Warrior" will take electric vehicles as the main product force, it is similar to the Great Wall tank in terms of positioning and structure, and it is conceivable that the future mass production vehicles will also be benchmarked with the tanks in terms of background and positioning.
