In October 2021, the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) was held in Yunnan. Li Chengcai's "Yunnan Code" as the opening film, stunning the world.

Li Chengcai has been making documentaries for more than 30 years, and most of his works are concentrated in the field of finance and economics. From "The Rise of Great Powers", "Wall Street", "Money" to "The Road to Innovation" and "Centennial Finance", it is a manual for the financial enlightenment of a generation.

"Crossover" began in 2016. This year, the climate change agreement, the Paris Agreement, was signed, and it was also in this year that Li Chengcai's first nature documentary "Chinese Plants Affecting the World" began to be filmed. Three years later, "Chinese Plants Affecting the World" was launched, which was called "a documentary on Chinese plants beyond the BBC".

Regarding this "cross-border", Fu Lei has a passage that Li Chengcai likes very much, "Intellectuals are dying birds, and when the wind and rain are coming, the birds are the first to feel and have the responsibility to tell other animals this information as soon as possible." In a sense, Li Chengcai is the "bird."

In 2001, China joined the WTO and eagerly wanted to integrate into the world, and looking back at the documentary directed by Li Chengcai, it can be found that "The Rise of Great Powers", "Wall Street", "Currency", "The Road to Innovation", and "Centennial Finance" are all telling the story of the world to Chinese, which is to meet the needs of "China to see the world clearly".

In 2005, Li Chengcai filmed "The Rise of Great Powers" in Williamsburg, USA, and the so-called "great powers" filmed refer to the United States, but an American couple said to him, "It's going to be your turn, we're not going to do it." Mr. Lee was somewhat dismissive at the time, but by 2010, China had become the world's second-largest economy. After that, China's international influence has become more and more, and the world has become more and more eager to see China. At the same time, Li Cheng found that even though we have become the second in the world and have great material abundance, we are still "afraid" and "nervous".

Li Chengcai tried to find the answer. So, his lens began to turn, he began to find roots in Chinese culture, from "let China see the world clearly" to "let the world see China", he began to work to let the world and China know more about China, to tell the world a good Chinese story. "Chinese Plants Affecting the World" is his first exploration.
