China Daily, 19 Jan (China Daily) -- On the afternoon of 18 January, the Exchange and Dialogue Meeting between the Youth Elites of the SCO and Eurasian Countries with the theme of "Moving Toward the Future Together" was held in Beijing. Kurintsev Yuri, deputy director of youth policy at the Institute of Far Eastern Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, pointed out that in the development of today's world, in addition to the military, political and economic aspects of international policy, the achievements of culture, arts, education, sports and science and technology are also important factors that cannot be ignored.

He said that the leadership of today's world politics depends on the country's ability to develop human resources, that is, to increase investment in science and technology and young scholars. According to the statement of the establishment of the SCO, it is also one of the main purposes of the SCO to encourage effective cooperation in the fields of science and technology and education. At present, many Eurasian regions, including developing countries in the SCO region, attach great importance to the cultivation of scientific and technological talents in the process of innovative economic models. According to Yuri, the SCO has the SCO University, and its important task is to cultivate young talents. The SCO University was founded in 2006, and governments pledged to cooperate in the field of education. At present, the SCO network universities and the 80 universities of the member states have become a joint network of existing universities between countries, and they have specific purposes, that is, to strengthen mutual trust and good-neighborly and friendly relations among countries, develop the integration process in the fields of education and science and technology, and promote effective cooperation among member states, involving the political, economic, trade, scientific and technological and cultural fields.

Yuri believes that the potential of the SCO University should continue to be realized, and on its basis, the establishment of a council of young scholars of the SCO will not only help to promote the growth of young scholars and promote the collaboration of young scholars among universities in various countries, but also help to support the initiatives and teaching activities of young scholars, promote scientific knowledge, and give young scholars the opportunity to participate in various conferences held at home and abroad to help them obtain cutting-edge information.

Yuri called on the SCO to concentrate on developing cooperation among young scholars, focusing on quantity to quality of training, allowing young scholars to participate more in non-verbal professional courses including science, engineering and economics, and combining long-term and medium-term training programs, including those taught in English.

He pointed out that in the past 20 years, the SCO has become a very influential international integration organization. The SCO also plays an important and positive role in developing Sino-Russian dialogue. For example, expanding academic activities between the two countries and enhancing the innovation potential of young scholars is conducive to the realization of Sino-Russian strategic goals. Historical experience has proved that exchanges among young scholars can make an important contribution to strengthening mutual trust and understanding and to building strong partnerships among countries.
