Fake doctors handwritten graduation certificates, joined the research institute for 11 years, and fraudulently received tens of millions of public salaries

Can you believe it? A grand research institute, but it was revealed that it hired a fake doctor?

Even more shocking is that the fake Ph.D. has not been detected for 11 years, during which time he has also presided over four studies.

How did such an outrageous thing happen?

Let's go straight to the main text.

Fake Ph.D. was an associate researcher for 11 years

It happened at the Institute of Experimental Research (founded in 1974) under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Executive Yuan of Taiwan Province.

The protagonist involved, surnamed Li, was hired as an associate researcher of the institute in 2009 and claimed to have graduated from the Institute of Marine Biology of Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan Province.

During this time, she chaired four studies, three on food safety.

△ The far right is Dr. Lee

Everything was "normal".

In 2020, Dr. Li left the institute and entered a biotechnology company as a general manager as an associate researcher.

According to the data, this company was established in 2018, mainly researching and selling hepatobiliary gastrointestinal drugs and related medical equipment.

The size of the company is not large, but the fake doctor thing is exposed here.

According to Taiwan media sources, this "doctor" has worked in the department for nearly two years, but was found by the company to have insufficient working ability.

To what extent is it insufficient? They suspected that her academic qualifications were fake.

Therefore, the department immediately checked on her own with what she called her graduation institution, Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan Province.

Unexpectedly, the reply I got was really:

No such person was identified.

The diploma is a handwritten number

The company's board of directors was shocked, and Ms. Li of course dismissed the process, but they also took the initiative to inform the research institute where she had worked.

Because they couldn't figure out how a fake PhD could be successfully hired as an associate researcher and work for 11 years.

What's even more outrageous is that they look back at a copy of the graduation certificate provided by Li, which is handwritten with the certificate number "Zhongshan Bozi 2128".

The period of study "July 2000 to July 2004" is also handwritten.

Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan Province responded: This is by no means from our own school, because they would never do it.

More critically, the university also said that the above enrollment time was written incorrectly, normally in September; and the study period is not normal, generally at least 6 years - and it is rare to get a doctorate in four years.

They were also shocked by this, and sent a soul torture question to the institute: "As a professional academic institution, why don't you even have this ability to judge?" ”

Yes, what's going on? Do they not censor academic qualifications when recruiting?

The pressure is now on the institute's side.

However, unexpectedly, the acting dean of the research institute (who was also there when he recruited the doctor) heard about this matter, because he was worried about being held responsible, he only wanted to block the news, and once denied it in the face of the interview.

But in the end, they succumbed to the people's indignation and made a review.

As for how the "fake doctor" came in, they did not announce on the official website of the hospital, but said that they would strengthen the review in the future, such as be sure to check the original diploma, and must compare the master's and doctoral dissertations...

It is reported that Dr. Li "Dr." Li's monthly salary during his tenure at the institute was about 58,000, while the project funding of the four studies she led ranged from about 15,000 to 30,000 per month, and the rough estimate was at least tens of millions.

Note: The above and below coins are all in New Taiwan Dollars.

Now, having been indicted, she threatens to face two counts:

The first is the crime of "falsehood of civil servants", which can be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years and a fine of not more than 15,000 yuan;

The second is the crime of fraud, which can be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years and a fine of not more than 500,000 yuan.
