Driven by SiP packaging technology, the ESD industry increased by 17.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of last year

According to the latest data released by the ESD Alliance (Electronic System Design), the electronic system design (ESD) industry increased by 17.1% year-on-year in the third quarter of last year, mainly driven by the growth of system-in-package tools.

In its latest Electronic Design Market Data (EDMD) report, the EDA industry grew from $2,953.9 million to $3,458.1 million in the third quarter of 2021.

SiP Tools revenue increased 30.6% to $1,373.3 million.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) also grew strongly, up 22.6 percent to $451.7 million. The average flow in the EMEA region increased by 11.9% over the four quarters.

Wally Rhines, executive sponsor of the SEMI Electronic Design Market Data Report, said: "The industry reported double-digit year-over-year revenue growth in the third quarter of 2021. Geographically, double-digit growth was reported across all regions, with CAE, PCB and multi-chip modules, SIP and services also showing double-digit growth. ”

Companies tracked in the EDMD report employed 51,182 people worldwide in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 8.7 percent from 47,087 in the third quarter of 2020 and a 2.4 percent increase compared to the second quarter of 2021.

CAE revenue increased 13.7% to $1,054.7 million. The CAE liquidity average for four quarters grew by 11.8%.

Integrated circuit physical design and verification revenue grew by only 0.7 percent to $612.6 million. However, the fourth-quarter average for the category rose by 16 percent.

Printed circuit board and multichip module (PCB and MCM) revenue increased 14.5% to $298.3 million. The fourth-quarter average for PCB and MCM increased by 10.9 percent.

Services revenue increased 12.5% to $119.1 million. The average service flow for the four quarters increased by 9.2%.

In revenue terms, the Americas region purchased $1,494.5 million in electronic systems design products and services in the third quarter of 2021, an increase of 14.3%. The average flow in the Americas region increased by 15.8% over the four quarters.

Revenue in Japan rose 11.8 percent to $259.8 million. Japan's fourth-quarter moving average rose 3.3 percent. Asia Pacific (APAC) revenue increased 19.7% to $1,252.1 million. The average flow in the Asia-Pacific region grew by 21.3% in the fourth quarter. (Proofreading | Value)
