Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

As the hottest word last year, metaverse opens a whole new door to the future. The metacosm is a patchwork of the words "meta" and "universe", which literally translates to the transcendent universe. We can simply understand it as a virtual space parallel to and independent of the real world.

Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

Bank of America released a report saying, "The metacosm will be composed of countless virtual worlds connected to each other, and closely connected to our real world." The metacosm will cover work and recreation, and various industries and markets that have been developing for a long time, such as finance and banking, retail, education, health and other fields, will change. ”

Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

So for the automotive industry, what can the rise of the metacosm bring to it? This time, we specially invited Mr. Li Hanqing, General Manager of Technicon Design, to discuss with us whether it is a new opportunity or a negative impact when the car meets the metacosm.

Interview: Design and Metacosm

Technicon Design

Being unconstrained by engineering/cost is a great opportunity for designers to realize their extraordinary imagination. Every object in real and virtual life must be "designed". Start with buildings, houses, traffic, and then drill down to every object. At the same time, it will also be a great opportunity to expand the market, imagination and rapid response force change is very important.

The interesting part is that being free from engineering/costs constrains every designer could express his creativity in different fields. Every object in the real as in the virtual life must be “designed”. I think as happened in the real world starting from buildings, houses, transportation and later going deeper in every objects. Metaverse will be a big opportunity to increase the market but we have to prepare to be very fast on realizing people dreams.

Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

Q:

Metacosm was the hottest word last year, and this heat has continued until now. For designers, the field of design, the field, and even the definition have been expanded unprecedentedly in this era. Do you see this as an opportunity or a challenge? What impact does this have on the automotive industry?

Metaverse was the most popular word last year, and this popularity has been continued until today. For designers, field, domain, and even definition of design have been expanded unprecedentedly at this time. In your opinion, is this an opportunity or a challenge? How does it affect automotive industry?

A:

In the field of automotive industry, the metacosm is actually a more scenario-based expansion of the previous digital twins, from the designer's point of view, it provides a more direct, efficient and rapid iterative method environment for the realization of its creativity, which will also trigger the change of design mode and bring unprecedented opportunities for design work in the industrial field.

First, the diversification of design sources provides a design environment with multi-party participation.

The second is the authenticity of the manufacturing process, through the first-person perspective to verify the design and manufacturing process in the virtual environment in advance, improve manufacturing efficiency and quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.

The third is the perception of user experience, participating in advance in the virtual environment, providing direct input for flexible design and production, and improving user experience.

Therefore, we at Nikon have long begun to seize the development opportunities of a new generation of information technology and new energy technology, empower automobile design with our deep understanding of new technologies, new scenarios and new applications, and are committed to providing customers and users with extraordinary experiences.

From automotive side, Metaverse is actually a more scene-based extension of the previous digital twin. From designers' point of view, it provides new world which is more direct, efficient and rapid iterative for the realization of its creativity, which will also bring possibilities of design evolution and unprecedented opportunities for design work in the industrial field.

Firstly, the diversification of design, provides a multi-participation design world.

Secondly, the reality of manufacturing process, which can verify design and manufacturing process in a virtual environment in advance by first perspective, improve efficiency and quality of manufacture, and reduce manufacturing cost.

Finally, the empathy of user experience, participation in the virtual environment in advance, providing direct input from users for flexible design and production to improve user experience.

Technicon Design devoted into developing new generation of technology information and new energy technology. Via in-depth understanding of new technologies, new domains and new applications, we will try our best to devote ourselves to provide extraordinary service to customers and users.

Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

Zuckerberg said that the metacosm is not the Internet we see on mobile phones or computer screens, but an Internet that we participate in and can be immersed in. In such an Internet environment, what kind of spark can the automotive industry collide with?

Zuckerberg said that the metaverse is not the Internet we see on our phones or computer screens, but an Internet that we participate in and can be in. In such an Internet environment, what kind of sparks can the automotive industry collide with?

This problem can be said in several ways.

The first is the research and development aspect, such as the Seabuck cockpit independently developed by Taikonik in 2017, whether the use of virtual space in the research and development design stage will accelerate the development speed of the automotive industry.

The second is the manufacturing aspect, such as Ford's use of VR technology to evaluate the vehicle assembly process, with remarkable results. For users, this provides a channel to open up virtual and real, such as the Internet of Vehicles social network, virtual exhibition halls, etc.

Other fields, such as the diversification of automotive games, the user community of different car brands, and the large database of OEMs, may be the combination of meta-universe and the automotive industry. With the convergence of multiple cultures, data storage and data depth collection, the sharing of resources will become more efficient.

It could be discussed in several ways.

The first one is R&D, such as Seatbuck developed by Technicon Design in 2017. The application of virtual space in R&D phase could accelerate speed of development in automotive industry potentially.

Second is manufacturing. For example, great achievements have been made from Ford who used VR technology to evaluate the vehicle assembly process. For users, metaverse connect virtual and reality, such as IOV, virtual exhibition space, etc.

In other fields, such as the diversification of car games, the user community of different car brands, the large database of OEMs, etc, may be the juncture between metaverse and automotive industry. The integration of multiple cultures, data storage, data collection, and resources sharing will become more efficient.

What are the directions of exploration? What difficulties do you think are foreseeable in this process and how can they be overcome?

What are the exploring directions? Which difficulties will meet during this period as you can see? How to overcome them?

The integration of technologies such as cloud computing, regional chains, VR&AR, digital twins, etc. will become particularly critical. Knowledge integration across industries will become increasingly important.

What are some of the existing attempts in the automotive space you know about in the metaverse that are desirable?

Some of the current automotive attempts as you know in metaverse, which are desirable?

Modeling through vr off-site review, intelligent cockpit through VR human-computer interaction are good initial attempts, how to better strengthen the R & D stage developers through VR or even XR, the connection between consumers and cockpits is worth further bold attempts. Through the user feedback in recent years, The VR seatbuck developed by Taikonik in 2017 has made us more confident in the next step of upgrading and upgrading.

VR off-site review for design phase, human machine interaction by Seatbuck are very good first steps, how to better strengthen connection between developers in R&D phase, users and seatbuck need to be more attempted. VR Seatbuck developed in 2017 by Technicon Design received good feedback from customers during these years, we have strong confidence to upgrade and update.

Can you tell us more about This VR seatbuck from Nikon?

Can you give us detailed introduction of this seatbuck by Technicon Design?

The Seatbuck cockpit independently developed by Taikonik in 2017 can realize virtual modeling review, remote modeling review, engineering profile analysis, material texture virtual review, etc. in the R&D design stage to better help the R&D and design team of the main engine factory optimize the review rhythm, enhance a better human-machine interaction experience, and enable the modeling centers in different countries and regions to achieve joint review.

Seatbuck by Technicon Design can realize virtual review, off-site review, layout, and CMF review in R&D design phase could better support design team to be more efficient during review process, improve better feeling of human machine interaction, realize off-site review by design centers in different countries and regions.

Interview: When cars meet the metacosm, is it a new opportunity or a negative impact?

Zuckerberg previously said of the metaverse: "[People] can spend more time on important things and less time on the road." "Therefore, some people think that the metacosm is the enemy of the automobile industry, after all, if people can work, socialize, and entertain in the virtual space, then there is no need to go out, what else do you want the car to do? What do you think of this sentence?

Zuckerberg said,"(People) could spend more time on important matters and less time on the road." Therefore, someone think metaverse is the enemy of auto industry; after all, if people can work, socialize, and play in virtual space, then they don't need to go out, so they don’t need cars any more. What do you think?

The development of science and technology is to pull in the distance between people as much as possible, but the essence of life cannot be replaced by the virtual world. The evolution and diversity of car forms will be more and more integrated into everyone's life.
