Three Pennsylvania police officers were charged with manslaughter and reckless endangerment after an 8-year-old girl died in a high school football game.

Fanta Bility was shot and killed after an Aug. 27 match at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill near Philadelphia after two teenagers got into an argument, ABC News reported. After the police reacted and opened fire, Bility was shot.

Investigators found that police gunfire hit the girl.

On Tuesday, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer charged Sharon Hill police officers Devon Smith, Sean Dolan and Brian Devaney with 12 counts of manslaughter (voluntary and involuntary) and reckless endangerment.

"We have now concluded that, in fact, it was the police who shot and killed Fanta Bility and injured three others," the district attorney's office said in a statement.

The officers were taken on leave after the girl's death, and the Sharon Hill Borough Council will vote Thursday on whether to fire the officers.

Bail for each suspect is set at $500,000, and they are expected to return to the courtroom in the next room.

The first teenager to shoot at the competition, Hasin Strand, 18, and a 16-year-old also face charges.

Strand will serve a 32- to 64-month sentence in state prison after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a gun and was charged with severe assault for injuring a child bystander in a shootout.

Prosecutors said the juvenile "is still being charged with serious crimes for attempting to kill Strand.".
