After coming to the northeast, Zhao Yiman was appointed as the commissioner of the Zhuhe Central County Committee and the president of the Zhuhe County Women's Salvation Association. After Zhao Yiman took office, he quickly established an organization and opened up the situation.
After the founding of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Alliance, Zhao Shangzhi knew that Zhao Yiman was a Huangpu female master, and seeing that she was so excellent, he came to dig up people, so Zhao Yiman joined the anti-coalition team and became the political commissar of the second regiment of the Third Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army.
Since then, Zhao Yiman began her combat career, she led the troops, mobilized the masses, and used the familiar terrain to launch a deadly contest with the Kwantung Army, and fought dozens of battles large and small, making the enemy feel frightened.

In a battle in early November 1935, Zhao Yiman was unfortunately shot and wounded, hid in the cellar of a peasant family, and was arrested for informing traitors.
In the face of the enemy's threats and inducements, torture and torture, Zhao Yiman's righteousness was awe-inspiring, and his heroism made the enemy leader Taiji Ohno sincerely impressed, and the Japanese officer asked Zhao Yiman to write a few words to commemorate it. Zhao Yiman waved a large pen, and an impassioned poem had already been written, and two sentences of it were widely circulated:
Without sparing the head of the new homeland, Gan will be enthusiastic about China!
How generous and how bold, it is still boiling with blood when read to this day.
On June 28, 1936, Zhao Yiman took advantage of her serious illness to seek medical treatment and cleverly escaped, unfortunately, the enemy was heavily guarded, and she was arrested for the second time two days later.
After this arrest, the enemy finally revealed her true face and used all kinds of inhuman torture on her, but these inhuman tortures failed to make Zhao Yiman submit, she was unyielding, strictly guarded secrets, and regarded death as a homecoming.
In the face of Zhao Yiman's contempt, the enemy felt fear in his heart, and they could not believe why a weak woman was so strong and could withstand so much torture.
The enemy finally raised the butcher's knife to Zhao Yiman, and before sacrificing, Zhao Yiman wrote a letter to his son Ning Er. This letter is now preserved in the Northeast Martyrs' Memorial Hall.
In this letter, Zhao Yiman wrote:
Ning Er, your mother is really sorry that you did not fulfill your educational responsibilities.
My dearest child, mother does not need a thousand words to educate you, but to educate you with practice.
When you grow up, hopefully don't forget that your mother died for the country.
That night, Zhao Yiman was sacrificed. Her letter, 21 years late, came to her son. At this time, it was already 1957, and the organization sent people to Yibin, Sichuan to verify the identity of the martyr, and Zhao Yiman's son Chen Yexian knew that Zhao Yiman was his mother Li Kuntai!
