After the crime, New York City police rushed to the Times Square subway station in Manhattan

Comprehensive "New York Daily News" and other US media reported on the 15th, New York police said that at about 9:30 a.m. on the 15th, the Asian woman was suddenly pushed off the platform by 61-year-old Simon Martial when waiting for the train, and then crashed into the oncoming train and died on the spot. Prior to the deadly attack, there was no indication that the two had any conversation or interaction. The suspect then fled, but eventually turned himself in and admitted that he had pushed a woman in front of the train.

New York Police Deputy Commissioner Wilcox pointed out that the suspect had also targeted another female passenger on the platform during the 9 minutes at the station. However, the woman escaped from him, but a few seconds later Martial attacked the second passenger. New York Police Chief Hughell called it an unprovoked attack and a "senseless act of violence."

U.S. media pointed out that since 1998, Martial has been arrested 10 times. In 2018, he robbed a taxi, was briefly imprisoned, and later granted parole. Police sources added that the suspect had mental health problems and there was no indication that the murder was a hate crime. Currently, Martial is charged with second-degree murder.

Since the outbreak of the epidemic, racial discrimination and hate crimes against Asian Americans have intensified. Many Asians have been attacked on the streets and in public places, from spitting, to verbal harassment, to various physical attacks, and thousands of similar incidents have been reported in the United States since the outbreak of the epidemic.

Just hours before the attack, a march against hate crimes against Asians had just taken place in Philadelphia.

On November 17, 2021, a violent incident of a bad nature occurred in a subway car in Philadelphia, a group of African-American women wearing turbans first scolded several Asian boys, and from time to time there were racist insults such as "f**ing china" in their mouths, and then an Asian girl who came to stop their atrocities was pressed to the ground and beaten, and no one in the carriage came to help, and no relevant staff appeared.

The video of the scene caused an uproar online, and the police of the Penn Southeast Regional Transportation Bureau (SEPTA) intervened in the investigation and did not say whether the violence was caused by racial discrimination, and only confirmed that the attackers were students.

The live video showed a group of black women wearing headscarves in the carriage beating and scolding several Asian boys, during which "f**ing china" and "china chicken" and other racially discriminatory insults were heard endlessly. The boys who were scolded did not resist or return their mouths, but just covered their faces with their hands and did not say a word.

An Asian girl wearing a green coat and long black hair seemed to be unable to look at it, and at least twice stepped forward to block it, but once she was insulted by a woman in pink wearing a turban, and the second time she was even led by a woman in pink to beat up.

When the woman in pink insulted the boy, she did not know which sentence of the Asian girl angered her, only to see her suddenly turn around and grab the girl, drag her to the car door, and hit the girl's head against the door.

Then she knocked her to the ground and punched and kicked her, and also led a group of African American women with her to beat the girl who was lying on the ground screaming, and the lost shoes were also picked up and pumped hard into the girl's face.

Throughout the beating, no one at the scene came to stop the violence.

Septa spokesmans said they had identified individuals involved in the attack and the identities of the four teenagers in the video had so far been confirmed. The attackers were African-American, the victims appeared to be Asian-Americans, and the attackers were all students. But investigators did not say whether the violence was caused by racial discrimination or the cause of the incident, saying only that the incident did not cause serious casualties.

US media pointed out that during the new crown pneumonia pandemic, anti-Asian attacks have increased sharply in the United States. According to the NYPD, New York City arrested 28 people for hate crimes against Asians in 2020, up from 3 in 2019 and 2 in 2018.
