Chongqing, January 18 (China News Service) -- "The Twin Cities Economic Circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region radiates nearly 300 million people in western China and links more than 600 million people in emerging markets in ASEAN. At the chongqing two sessions being held here, Yi Xiaoguang, member of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and president of the Chongqing Municipal Institute of Comprehensive Economic Research, said that Chengdu and Chongqing should deepen trade cooperation with ASEAN and European countries, seize the implementation opportunity of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP), integrate the function of the inland international logistics hub of the new land-sea corridor in the western region, strengthen the brand building of China-Europe express trains, and build an inland free trade port.

Yi Xiaoguang believes that the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region has five major advantages. The first is that the strategic location is important, and it is an international gateway hub for East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia in the new opening pattern of the country; the second is that the industrial base is better, and the prototype of world-class industrial clusters such as automobiles, electronic information, and equipment manufacturing has emerged; in addition, there are three major advantages of continuous enhancement of innovation capabilities, broad market space and high degree of openness.

Talking about the development path of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, Yi Xiaoguang mentioned "international" and "cooperation".

He believes that the chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle should develop in synergy with neighboring regions, promote the integrated development of the upper, middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, strengthen cooperation with the eastern and central regions, especially the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area city clusters; actively promote the international cycle, integrate into the "Belt and Road" construction, and form a new advantage of international cooperation facing Southeast Asia, South Asia, and connecting Europe.

In terms of industry, Yi Xiaoguang believes that the chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle should build a globally important manufacturing center, cultivate advanced manufacturing clusters with international competitiveness such as automobiles and electronic information, and world-class equipment manufacturing industry clusters such as aerospace and rail transit; vigorously develop the digital economy, and jointly build a western financial center, an international logistics and operation organization center, and an international consumption center; and also strengthen industrial chain cooperation to promote the upgrading of Sino-German, Sino-Korean and other industrial cooperation. In addition, scientific and technological cooperation with domestic and foreign countries should also be strengthened, such as the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" science and technology innovation cooperation zone and international technology transfer center.

The chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle should also focus on connecting the Ouda Sea and speeding up the construction of a large channel for going out to sea and exiting the country. Xu Ren'an, secretary of the party committee and director of the Chongqing Municipal Transportation Bureau, believes that the eastward direction optimizes and upgrades the Yangtze River Economic Belt channel; the southbound, bigger and stronger new land and sea corridors in the west; the westward direction, consolidates and strengthens the Silk Road Economic Belt corridor; and the northward direction actively expands the China-Mongolia-Russia corridor.
