Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: Study and clarify support policies such as the continuation of preferential tax treatment for new energy vehicles as soon as possible

On January 18, at the 2022 annual work meeting of the inter-ministerial joint meeting, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology proposed that it would study and clarify support policies such as the continuation of new energy vehicle purchase tax incentives as soon as possible, improve the requirements for points management, and stabilize market expectations.

The meeting pointed out that in 2021, a total of 3.521 million new energy vehicles were sold in China, an increase of 1.6 times year-on-year, promoting the end of automobile production and sales for three consecutive years, ranking first in the world for 7 consecutive years, and the domestic sales of Chinese brands accounted for 76%; the innovation ability was significantly improved, and the computing power of on-board lidar and artificial intelligence chips reached the international advanced level; the supporting environment continued to be optimized, and the construction of charging and replacement infrastructure was further increased, and 936,000 charging piles and 14,000 charging stations were built. There were 725 substations, an increase of 193%, 90% and 356% respectively year-on-year, and more than 10,000 power battery recycling service outlets were set up.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology proposed that it is necessary to accelerate the breakthrough of key technological innovation and industrialization such as power batteries, operating systems, and automotive chips; to accelerate the construction of charging and replacing infrastructure, solve the problem of "charging difficulties" in old residential areas and highways, and improve the level of electrification of vehicles in the public domain; it is necessary to adhere to the equal emphasis on open source and throttling, improve the proportion of recycling and utilization efficiency; further strengthen safety supervision, improve functional safety, data security, network security related standards, and compact the main responsibilities of production enterprises.
