As we all know, in ancient times, each emperor had his own independent mausoleum, and there would also be his own empress and concubines buried together. But in the Tang Dynasty, there was such a special case, a mausoleum in which two emperors were buried at the same time, whether it was before or after death, the deeds of this emperor were unique.
The mausoleum we are talking about today is the Qianling Tomb, where the remains of the two Tang Dynasty emperors, Wu Zetian and Li Zhi, are buried. So why didn't Wu Zetian, as the emperor, build his own mausoleum, and why did he choose to be buried together? Is it just because of the love between him and Li Zhi? In fact, there are more than that, and the real reason for this is the wisdom of the Empress, which is by no means comparable to ordinary people.
Wu Zetian was the first and only female emperor in Chinese history. As a young woman, she entered the palace to serve Li Shimin, and until she was sent to the monastery to become a monk, she was still only a talented person. However, she had already paved the way for herself, and then returned to the palace to gain Li Zhi's favor, from Zhaoyi to empress, defeated all the women in the harem, and went to power with Li Zhi and the two of them, known as the "Second Saint".
Later, after Li Zhi's death, Li Zhi's two sons successively became emperors, but Wu Zetian, who loved power very much, refused to let go, first deposed his son Li Xian and abdicated, and then Li Dan directly ceded the imperial throne to his mother, became emperor himself, and mastered Li Tangjiangshan. Of course, there are many killings in this, and she is a fierce woman, even her sister and brother.
However, Wu Zetian was the previous generation of Ming Jun, whether in terms of talent or political achievements, she wantonly developed agriculture, rectified the imperial program, was able to know people and make good use of them, and could listen to loyal words and ears. But even so, a woman with a different surname is always stealing the country and always wants to pay it back. When she was 80 years old, she fell ill once, and the courtiers, led by Princess Taiping and Li Longji, launched a Shenlong coup to force the empress to abdicate, and Jiangshan once again returned to the hands of the Li family.
Two years later, Wu Zetian died, and his last words were to be buried with her husband Li Zhi. The first reason for this is because of the feelings with Li Zhi, Li Zhi has the grace of knowing her and is very fond of her, and there may be sincere feelings between the two. The second reason, because Wu Zetian had also committed unforgivable crimes when he seized power, the suppression and killing of the descendants of the Li family would definitely bring disaster to himself, even after death.
If it is different from the burial of the former emperor Li Zhi, the tomb of the former emperor will never dare to move in the future, and it is reasonable for her to be buried with the empress of the former emperor. This move allowed her to be at peace after her death, and if she built a mausoleum herself, it was possible that she would eventually have no bones.
Wu Zetian's considerations were confirmed soon after, and her cronies at the time, Wu Sansi and Wu Chongxun of her own family, were all killed one by one, and the grave-digging wilderness was very cruel, and Li Tang's hatred for Wu Zetian had accumulated for many years. From this incident, it can be seen that Wu Zetian can become an emperor, and her mind and vision are by no means ordinary people, and she is indeed scheming.
