Two salted duck eggs beat down a city, the funniest "uprising" in the Xinhai Revolution

It may be easy for many people to fall into a historical "misunderstanding", that is, to confuse the "Xinhai Revolution" with the "Wuchang Uprising", in fact, there is still a difference between the two, and the scope of the "Xinhai Revolution" is actually much larger than that of the "Wuchang Uprising". It refers to the nationwide revolution against the Qing Dynasty and the overthrow of the boycott in 1911 (the year of the Xinhai lunar calendar, the third year of the Qing Dynasty), which began on october 10, 1911 (the nineteenth day of the eighth lunar month) and ended with the abdication of the Qing Xuantong Emperor in 1912.

Therefore, the Xinhai Revolution not only included the "Wuchang Uprising" (of course, the Wuchang Uprising was more significant because it originated, usually called "Wuchang Shouyi"), but also many other uprisings, some of which were very fierce (mainly where the flag people were stationed), and some of which were somewhat comedic.

And the most comedic is the "Wuhu Uprising" - the rebel army used not ordinary weapons to lay down Wuhu, but two salted duck eggs.

??? This is what the operation is.

Here we talk about Wuhu, which was the center of the anti-Qing revolutionary movement in Anhui at the beginning of the 20th century, and was once the center of public opinion and the base camp of the revolutionaries in Anhui. However, from 1906 to 1907, the revolutionary forces in Wuhu were attacked by the Qing government, so their activities were once silent.

But after all, the revolutionary party has been operating in Wuhu for many years, so it still has a lot of influence, starting in 1910, the revolutionary party in Wuhu began to contact the army stationed in Wuhu to revolt anyway, on October 10, 1911, after the outbreak of the Wuchang uprising, the revolutionaries in Wuhu stepped up their activities.

Naturally, the rulers of the Qing court in Wuhu could not have been unaware, but at this time the situation in the whole country was in chaos, and they were also chaotic, and the highest commander of the Qing court in Wuhu at that time was Zhao Shangda, the commander of the Huining Pond Taiguang Military Preparation Road and the supervisor of Wuhu Pass, who received a telegram from Zhu Jiabao, the inspector of Anhui, and immediately summoned a bunch of shrimp soldiers and crab generals (Li Baofeng, general of the Wucai camp and commander of the southern Anhui patrol battalion, Zhu Xiufeng of Wuhu County, Ding Youlan, general of the patrol police office, Tang Shanfu, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and bao Xiaoqin and Wang Zhipu, local gentry) to a meeting and organized a regiment defense.

But at this time, the whole country is in the revolution, and the people are afraid, relying on such a ragtag crowd to have a ghost use. They did not dare to interfere in the activities of the revolutionaries at all, and every day they closed their barracks to protect themselves, but the revolutionary party was not idle, and the league organizations in Shanghai, Wuhan, Hefei and other places sent people to Wuhu separately, and in the end, even these officials became the target of the revolutionaries' co-optation.

However, at that time, there was always a problem with the officials of the old era: vying for power and seizing power, at that time it had been said that the revolutionary party and the garrison would revolt together, but later they were divided into two factions, the revolutionary Wu Zhenhuang announced the uprising first, and Li Baofeng, the commander of the new army, was still hesitating.

The two forces are so deadlocked, but how did the stalemate break down?

This is a bit funny to say, the revolutionary party volunteers took two salted duck eggs wrapped in paper, swung into the yamen, said that they had a bomb in their hands, and took over Wuhu at the behest of Sun Wen, and thousands of Wuhu new troops surrendered.

On that day, the Yamen hung a white flag with four big characters written on it, "Guangfu Dahan".
