On November 8, Xu Shaozhen, Chen Qimei and other generals of the former Qing army led their troops to form a coalition army and prepare to capture Nanjing; under the command of Xu Shaozhen, the coalition army successfully captured the city of Nanjing in early December; from this time on, the area south of the Yangtze River was occupied by the revolutionary army; at the end of the month, Sun Wen returned to China and established the Nanjing Provisional Government.
