Since Qingliu was included in the Western Fujian Hakka Cultural and Ecological Protection Experimental Zone in 2017, it has continuously strengthened the protection of intangible cultural heritage, and up to now, Qingliu has a total of 10 provincial intangible cultural heritage representative projects, 32 municipal intangible cultural heritage representative projects, and 40 county-level intangible cultural heritage representative projects.

Among the many intangible cultural heritage projects in Qingliu, there are many folk activities with unique Qingliu characteristics held during the Spring Festival, through which locals express their inner joy, pin their pursuit of happiness and hope for a better life.

Long School Pulling Dragon

The long school has been passed down for nearly a thousand years, and it is a comprehensive Hakka folk activity that integrates ancestor worship, entertainment, and sports competitions during the first month. The dragon used by the Elder School is a bench dragon, and each dragon lamp is drawn by each family. In the dragon pulling activity, the person who carries the dragon's head and the dragon's tail will run in the opposite direction, and the two sides will wrestle with each other until the dragon's body is pulled into several pieces, and then picked up and pulled again, repeatedly, until everyone is exhausted. In 2018, Changxue Balong was selected into the fifth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Sanming City, and in 2019, Changxue Balong was selected into the sixth batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Fujian Province.

Spirit Dance Green Lion

The Lion Dance has a history of hundreds of years and is a unique local, popular, healthy and beneficial amusement competition in the spirit land. From the second day of the first lunar month, the masters of each "hit factory" (martial arts gym) will bring their apprentices to each family with a lion's head, a large knife, a rake, a hook knife, an iron ruler and a stick to each family to worship the New Year, and perform martial arts at the same time. Most of the lion dances use low piles and low steps, two people before and after, there are falling, tumbling, jumping, itching, crossing the bridge, jumping platform and other imitation of the lion's movements, and with gongs, drums, cymbals and other percussion music. In 2018, the Spirit Land Green Lion Dance was selected into the fifth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Sanming City.

Warm suburban rolling lights

Wenjiao Rolling Lantern has been passed down for hundreds of years, and is a folk activity held by Wenjiashan people in Wenjiao Township every year from the first day of the first lunar month to the Lantern Festival. Rolling lamp, as the name suggests, is a rolling lamp on the ground, its shape resembles a wheel, made of moso bamboo as the main raw material. From the first day of the first lunar month to the thirteenth day of the first month, every night when the gong and drum sound, the villagers spontaneously go out to roll the lights. After the Lantern Festival, on the last day of rolling the lights, the elders of the village will bring the rolling lamps to the entrance of the village, place offerings, and hold a ceremony to thank the lights. In 2020, Wenjiao Rolling Lantern was selected into the sixth batch of municipal intangible cultural heritage representative projects in Sanming City.
