In the last few days of 2021, as a member of the WEILAI user pilot group, I was the first to experience the latest Aspen 3.1.0 system of WEILAI.
This is the first FOTA upgrade of WEILAI after entering 2022, and it is also a major version of the update, with more than 10 new features and more than 20 function optimizations, including the new light color, Bluetooth key that Weilai car owners are very concerned about, as well as the optimization of air suspension, NIO Pilot, and NOMI.

1. Added light color mode
The previous 3.0.0 version of Weilai made a major revision of the car interface, but due to the workload, the light color mode was not developed in time. Further ahead, the 2.x version of the light color mode has long been widely acclaimed, this time to re-launch the new version of the light color mode, or a familiar feeling, or a familiar taste, the color design at a glance to know that it is the style of Weilai.
Weilai's design and aesthetics are absolutely top-notch in the car companies, and the sense of high-grade color and the layering of information display in the light color mode are very good, and I believe that this version will still make the owners praise each other.
2. Optimization of instruments and vehicles
The gauges optimize the speed display font and 3D model, and add more detailed animations for opening and closing doors, opening and closing charging ports, and charging. In addition, the card on the right side of the meter adds instantaneous energy consumption and real-time estimated battery life display, which can only be displayed in the car machine. At the same time, the font and icon displayed by the HUD head up are also optimized.
In terms of vehicles, a very practical substation information display card has been added, which can display the number of remaining full-power batteries and queuing of the substation when navigating to the substation; increase the display of the remaining battery life and the number of power-ups when navigating to the destination.
3. Add bluetooth key
Due to the very high voice of users, based on the existing hardware Weilai or "forced" to develop the Bluetooth key function, so the use of Weilai's Bluetooth key needs to open the APP point unlock button, and can not be insensitive. And due to the large number of mobile phone brands and models that need to be adapted, some models of mobile phones may have a certain probability that Bluetooth will not be connected. It is recommended that the owner keep an extra NFC card key when using it, just in case.
However, after having a Bluetooth key, the mobile phone can also act as a car key in the networkless environment, perform the function of unlocking/locking and starting the vehicle, and can realize the "summoning function" at a longer distance (the need to open a large NP), remote control vehicle forward and backward, and the car experience of special use scenarios has been improved.
4. Air suspension optimization
The new version optimizes the consistency of the air suspension experience, improving the existing "Schrödinger state" that is sometimes tight and sometimes loose. The style of suspension has changed, the head section is obviously harder, to ensure the initial section of support, to improve the owner complained about the suspension of the problem, and in the face of bad road comfort is significantly improved, in the face of continuous potholes or impact, the chassis action is more flexible, the suspension action feels faster, walking the same bad road body is obviously more stable.
However, the new version of the air suspension road sense is enhanced, the transmission of small vibrations on the road surface is more, more biased towards driving, will make the driver have more driving desire, overtaking and overtaking more confidence, but for people who like Buddhist driving may need to adapt to adapt.
5. AUTO HOLD is automatically activated
Beta version of the new AUTO HOLD parking automatic activation, logic similar to Audi, when in D gear and the speed of 0, AUTO HOLD automatically triggered, release the brake can be stopped. The original can only be activated by deep pedaling, and the logic is similar to Mercedes-Benz.
Although after the experience, we found that automatic activation is indeed more convenient than deep pedal activation, many pilot group users like this new activation method, but because of the poor smoothness of automatic activation in low-speed following, ramps and other scenarios, this function is temporarily removed from the official push system version.
6. Assisted driving optimization
To be honest, NIO Pilot assisted driving has done quite well in terms of user experience, and this time Weilai's "details maniac" has made 4 optimizations:
Added the function of adjusting the speed limit when stopping
Added a one-click adjustment to the current road speed limit function
Optimize cornering speed control
Optimize the deceleration experience when the cruising speed is lower than the current speed
However, it needs to be reminded again that the new version of NIO Pilot has stronger cornering capabilities and a better user experience, but it is still assisted driving, and the driver needs to pay attention to the road conditions when using it, ready to take over the vehicle at any time.
7. Other optimizations
NIO has always paid great attention to user experience and details, and this new version has many detailed optimizations, including but not limited to:
NOMI supports more car control and media instructions
NOMI supports one-word direct access
NOMI supports dual wake words (official version temporarily removed)
The speed of automatic parking search has been increased to 21km/h
Automatic parking reduces in-place hitting directions
Added dynamic transparent chassis
Added English version of the system
Added Task Manager
Optimized the notification menu bar
Once upon a time, OTAs were considered to be the "patching" functions that only imperfect products need, but now the smart cars represented by Tesla, Weilai, and Xiaopeng have proved again and again with OTAs that OTAs are essential features of smart cars in the new era and the key to continuously improving the user experience.
