What does it mean to "Fengtian Carry the Emperor's Edict"? How do I break a sentence?
In ancient China, imperial decrees were not all called "holy wills", but "orders", "orders", "governments" and so on. It was not until the Song Dynasty that emperors and ministers commonly referred to the imperial decree as the "Holy Will". The earliest to use the eight characters of "Fengtian Carrying Emperor's Edict" at the beginning of the Holy Will was Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang.

After Zhu Yuanzhang fixed the capital in Nanjing, in order to show the legitimacy of his "Son of Heaven", he called himself "Fengtian Fazu" and engraved the four characters "Fengtian Fazu" on the jade gui in his hand. He also personally wrote the article "Imperial Records dream", which tells the story of his sleepwalking in the Heavenly Palace, meeting the "Daofa Sanqing", and the purple-clad Daoist giving him real costumes and swords.
From then on, Zhu Yuanzhang began to call himself "Fengtian Carrying the Emperor's Edict" and as the "opening statement" of the Holy Will. Since then, it has been passed down through the generations, forming a fixed form of the opening words of the Holy Will. And the correct sentence of these eight words should be "Fengtian carries the emperor, the edict".
As a special form of document for the emperor to inform his subjects, appoint officials, canonize the clan office, commend merit, and warn the foreign countries, the Holy Will originated in the Shang Zhou, regulated in the Qin and Han Dynasties, developed in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and finally perfected in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
