During the Vietnam War, China gave Vietnam a lot of military assistance, from weapons and ammunition, to military uniforms, food, and personnel training, China can be said to have supported the Vietnamese army hand in hand. In the more than three decades that Vietnam has resisted foreign aggression, China has given Vietnam more than 20 billion US dollars in aid and vigorously supported Vietnam's liberation struggle.
However, after Vietnam's reunification, it quickly turned its face to China, and also cooperated with the Soviet Union's strategy of attacking China from north to south, encroaching on China's border territory in the border area, killing and injuring Chinese border civilians, and causing great casualties to China. Vietnam also launched a large-scale anti-Chinese operation, confiscating the assets of overseas Chinese and driving them to border areas.
Beginning on February 17, 1979, in order to safeguard the peace and stability of the southern Xinjiang region and protect the safety of the lives and property of our people, China waged a month-long self-defense counterattack against Vietnam, which dealt a heavy blow to Vietnam's arrogance. However, after the end of the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam in 1979, the war did not end soon, and the main Vietnamese force returned to help and continued to provoke in the border area, and then invaded Lao Shan, Zh Yin Shan, Bali He Dong Shan and other areas.
In order to expel the invading Vietnamese troops, and also to protect the safety of the lives and property of the people on the territory and borders, consolidate national defense, and temper the combat effectiveness of the troops, the major military regions of the People's Liberation Army began to send troops in turn to Lao Shan and the Yin Shan area to conduct rotational battles. During this ten-year old mountain round war, many excellent warriors were sacrificed, and many singable and weeping realities emerged.
On April 28, 1984, the 40th Division of the 14th Army of the People's Liberation Army and other units launched an attack on the Vietnamese troops entrenched in the Mali Po area of Lao Shan, and after three days of bloody fighting, recovered the Lao Shan Ma Li Po area that had been illegally occupied by Vietnam for five years. However, in this battle, the Vietnamese army also caused a lot of casualties to our army, on April 28, the soldier of the 58th detachment of the 5207 unit, Cho Tan Ying, was shelled by the Vietnamese army, and Cho Zhan Ying's thighs and hips were all blown off, and he was martyred at the age of 21.
After the martyr Zhao Zhanying was sacrificed, he was buried in the Malipo Martyrs' Cemetery, which is only 400 kilometers away from the hometown of the martyr Zhao Zhanying, that is, Songming County, Yunnan Province. However, Zhao Zhanying's family was very poor, living in a very remote small mountain village, the traffic at that time was very inconvenient, and the mother of the martyr Zhao Zhanying could not pay for the road to pay tribute to her son.
The saddest thing in the world is that the white-haired people send the black-haired people, in order to see her son, Zhao's mother repeatedly asked the township government for travel expenses, but to no avail. It was not until 2004, with the help of the local civil affairs bureau, that Zhao's mother had the money to visit her son in the cemetery, and at this time, 20 years had passed since his son's sacrifice. Afterwards, this matter was known to many people, and with the help of some caring people in the society, as well as the government and the local armed forces, Zhao's mother could sweep the grave of her son every two or three years. On March 2, 2018, at 2:00 a.m., Zhao Zhanying's mother, Ms. Zhao Doulan, died of illness at her home in Songming County, Yunnan Province, at the age of 90.
