Ren Ting, a survivor of the Western Route Army, was buried in obscurity for 12 years, and after liberation, Han Qigong, the brigade commander of the Majia Army

Ren Tingdong, also known as Lin Haibin, a native of Huoshan County, Anhui Province, joined the Red Army in 1930 (at the age of 14), and went to the headquarters of the Red Fourth Front to learn radio technology during the Long March, and was later assigned to the Third Bureau of the Red Fourth Front as a telegraph operator. In November 1936, Ren Tingdong accompanied the Western Route Army in the Hexi Corridor.

In the spring of 1937, Ren Tingdong was transferred to the Red 30 Army as a soldier. After the Shiwo meeting, the headquarters of the Western Route Army decided to transfer the troops into 3 detachments, and Ren Tingdong moved with the left detachment. Li Xiannian led the left detachment to fight hard in the Qilian Mountains and reached the vicinity of Anxi County (present-day Guazhou County).

On April 22, the left detachment of the Western Route Army held a meeting at Mushroom Terrace, 64 kilometers southeast of the county seat of Anxi County, and decided to attack the county seat of Anxi County.

Located at the westernmost end of the Hexi Corridor, Anxi is a strategic town leading to Xinjiang. On April 23, 1937, the left detachment set out from Mushroom Terrace and arrived at the camp in Theocheng (present-day Suoyang Town) in the afternoon, sent a team to investigate the enemy's situation, understand the terrain of the road, and learned that there was only one communication platoon stationed in Anxi County, so it made a siege deployment.

After dark, the left detachment attacked. Unexpectedly, the enemy situation changed, and nearly one regiment of the enemy troops occupying Suzhou had already entered Anxi City in advance. The Red Army units besieging the city were suppressed by heavy enemy artillery fire, and fang knew that the enemy's situation had changed. After fighting for one night and attacking the city several times, he withdrew from the battle at dawn and moved to Wangjiatun in the west of the county seat.

At dawn on April 25, the defenders of Anxi City swarmed to pursue the left detachment of the Western Route Army. Li Xiannian led the left detachment to fight and retreat, and after a day of fierce fighting in Wangjiatun, he took the opportunity to highlight the enemy's encirclement at night and moved northwestward through the Shule River. On the morning of the 26th, the left detachment broke through to Bai Dunzi, about 40 kilometers northwest of Anxi City, and was chased by enemy cavalry.

Ren Tingdong was scattered by the enemy in Bai Dunzi, and he and his comrades hid in Tibet, but they still did not escape the clutches of the Ma family army. After being captured, Ren Tingdong and his party were first imprisoned in Anxi City, and then escorted to a dilapidated camel shop on the north street of Zhangye City.

The camel shop was already dilapidated, and Ren Tingdong realized that the opportunity to escape had come. He and a comrade-in-arms quietly escaped while the enemy was asleep, and followed the countrymen who were pulling dung out of the city. They didn't know where to go, but they knew that the Red Army's troops were east of the Yellow River, so the two of them went all the way to the east, found a place to hide during the day, came out at night to catch the road, and made a living by begging along the way, and luckily crossed the Yellow River to Lanzhou.

Ren Tingdong was a very intelligent person, he knew that his name was Huazixiang, and as soon as he appeared in Lanzhou City, he would be arrested as a lost Red Army. Therefore, the two of them did not go to Lanzhou City, but walked hundreds of miles around the mountain road from outside the city to Shangying Village in Lintao County.

Ren Tingdong

Shangying Village is located in the southern foothills of Mabit Mountain, with an average altitude of 2250 meters, which is a deep mountainous area with little contact with the outside world. Here, Ren Tingdong and his comrades-in-arms hid their names and relied on working for the villagers to make a living. But the good times did not last long, and the local security chief had long noticed the two of them, knew that they must be lost Red Army soldiers, and sold him as a zhuang ding twice to the 10th Cavalry Division of the Kuomintang.

Although he put on the Kuomintang uniform, Ren Tingdong never forgot that he was a Soldier of the Red Army, never forgot the heinous crimes committed by Ma Jiajun, and the scene of comrades-in-arms being buried alive and beaten has always come to his mind. In 1941, Ren Tingdong's 10th Division entered Zhangye. Ren Tingdong seized the opportunity and escaped again. Along the way, he lay on the ice and ate snow, lived in caves, climbed cliffs, and finally came to the ash ditch of Zhangye Nanshan. There are many small coal kilns here, and Ren Tingdong stayed behind to carry coal for a living.

In the gray stripe ditch, Ren Tingdong hid his name and married and had children under the introduction of the local matchmaker. This is the peach blossom source of Ren Tingdong, who works at sunrise and rests at sunset every day, unaware of the changes in the outside world. Ten years passed in a flash, and the time came to 1949.

Ma Jiajun

In September 1949, the 1st and 2nd Corps of the Northwest War Army swept through the remnants of the Kuomintang in Zhangye with the momentum of destruction and decay, and within seven days, they liberated the five counties of Minle, Zhangye, Shandan, Linze and Gaotai, and the people of Zhangye were liberated.

One morning, the arrival of a group of Ma Jiajun scattered soldiers broke the tranquility of the gray trench. The leader is a fat man in his 50s, who rides on a horse, and from his domineering expression, it can be seen that he was once an indispensable figure.

Ren Tingdong fixed his eyes on it, wasn't this guy riding on a horse Han Qigong, the brigade commander of the Ma family army who killed a large number of captured Red Army soldiers that year? It turned out that the People's Liberation Army had liberated Zhangye City, and Han Qigong's army was defeated and could only flee into the mountains with his family to hide.

Stills of Han Qigong

Han Qigong, known as the King of Zhangye, was the commander of the 300 Brigade of the Majia Army, and in the bloody battle of the Nijia Camp, the Han Brigade, as the main force of the Majia Army, besieged the Red Army for seven days and nights, killing countless Red Army soldiers. After the defeat of the Red West Road Army, Zhangye became a concentration of Red Army prisoners and wounded and sick. Han Qigong used extremely cruel means to kill the Red Army personnel, including burning, hanging, shooting, slashing, burying alive, and even skinning, digging out the heart, and taking the guts. In Zhangye's Eastern Teaching Field, there were mass graves that buried the Red Army.

The flames in Ren Tingdong's eyes were burning, but he suppressed his anger and pretended that nothing had happened. After inquiring, Ren Tingdong learned that Zhangye had been liberated and that our contingent of the People's Liberation Army had come.

Ren Tingdong was full of emotion, he did not know whether the People's Liberation Army was the Red Army, but he knew that the People's Liberation Army had come to fight the Ma Family Army, and it was our own team. He did not sleep all night, and the next day before dawn, he got up and went to Zhangye County.

Zhangye City

Ren Tingdong came to the military control committee in the county seat, took the initiative to talk about his experience, and reported on Han Qigong's whereabouts. Fan Jianghai, chief of the Public Security Section of the Military Control Commission, attached great importance to his remarks and immediately reported these situations to the chief. After the study of the head of the unit, the best strategy at present is to win Han Qigong to surrender himself, and the best person to complete this task is Ren Tingdong. Ren Tingdong seemed to be back to the past, he stood upright, saluted a military salute and said: "Promise to complete the task." ”

On September 22, 1949, Ren Tingdong came to the burning ditch where Han Qigong was hiding with a letter of surrender from the Military Control Commission and another exiled Red Army soldier to preach our party's policy to Han Qigong.

At this time, Han Qigong was very embarrassed, and he clashed with his subordinates, not only being looted, but also beaten up by bandits. Han Qigong also knew that he had committed many crimes, but he was also cornered, so he had to surrender his weapons to the People's Liberation Army.

Who knows, Han Qigong was in prison, but he plotted to instigate an anti-prison riot, and after his plot failed, he was executed by the people's government in March 1951.

Ren Tingdong, a red heart that never changes, on the occasion of the founding of New China, did not waste a shot to catch Han Qigong, who committed the most heinous crime, and avenged the comrades who died tragically in Zhangye. It is true that evil has evil retribution, good has good retribution, not unrequited, the time has not yet come!

In November 1991, Ren Tingdong died of illness at the age of 75.
