On January 14, the relevant person in charge of Volkswagen Group (China) confirmed to the "Daily Economic News" reporter: "Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Tianjin, the Volkswagen automatic transmission (Tianjin) plant and the FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin plant have been closed on Monday. All employees at both factories have undergone two rounds of nucleic acid testing this week and are currently awaiting the results. ”

It is understood that the FAW-Volkswagen Tianjin plant was officially put into operation in 2018, mainly producing two MQB A2 platform car series, Audi Q3 and FAW-Volkswagen Tanyue (including derivative car series), with a design capacity of 300,000 vehicles per year. The Volkswagen Automatic Transmission (Tianjin) plant mainly provides transmission product and service support for automotive manufacturing companies such as Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen, covering fuel, hybrid and electric, and is at the core of the Volkswagen Group's supply chain.

In 2021, Volkswagen Group China and its joint venture delivered a total of 3.3 million vehicles in China, down 14.1% year-on-year, official data showed that Volkswagen Group China and its joint ventures. Among them, the Volkswagen brand and its sub-brand Jetta delivered more than 2.4 million vehicles in the whole year, down 14.8% year-on-year.

Official data shows that FAW Toyota's cumulative sales in 2021 will be about 860,000 vehicles, an increase of 8% year-on-year.
