On April 6, 1927, the Warlord Zhang Zuolin, in collusion with imperialism, arrested more than 80 revolutionary workers in Beijing, including Li Dazhao. After his arrest, Li Dazhao was tortured in prison. In the face of the enemy's severe torture, he always strictly guarded the party's secrets and was unyielding. On April 28, the Beiyang government disregarded the strong opposition and condemnation of public opinion and sentenced 20 revolutionaries, including Comrade Li Dazhao, to death by hanging. Before the execution, Li Dazhao shouted "Long live the Communist Party!" Then he was brave and righteous, at the age of 38.

The eldest son, Li Baohua, was born in Hebei in 1909 and studied in Japan. After the death of his father, he not only shouldered the burden of the family and set a good example for his younger brothers and sisters, but also threw himself into the revolution, actively participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and dedicated his strength to the revolutionary cause. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he was appointed Minister of Water Conservancy and Electric Power, and later transferred to the secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Anhui Province and the second secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Guizhou Province. In 1978, Li Baohua became president of the Chinese Bank until his retirement in 1982. On February 19, 2005, the elderly Li Baohua died in Beijing at the age of 96.

The second son, Li Guanghua, was only four years old when Li Dazhao died. Under the education of his brother, following the example of his father and brother, Li Guanghua was jealous and hateful, and joined the revolutionary movement at the age of 14, and was later transferred to the central government.

The youngest son, Li Xinhua, was born in 1926, and he was only about a year old when his father, Li Dazhao, died, and later grew up in Yan'an. He has gone to the front line many times to understand the people's feelings and write articles to let more Chinese people understand the current national conditions. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Xinhua devoted himself to the education industry and taught at the Eighth Middle School and the Ninth Middle School in Beijing. In 1954, he took the initiative to volunteer to teach in Mentougou in a poor mountainous area, successively serving as the principal of Dayu Middle School, the secretary of the party committee of Mentougou Normal College and the principal of the Teachers' Training College, and cultivated many talents for the country. In 1989, Comrade Li Xinhua died in Beijing at the age of 62.

Li Dazhao's eldest daughter, Li Xinghua, was born in November 1911 in Daheituo Village, Laoting County, and grew up with her mother Zhao Shulan. At the age of 7, she followed her mother to Beijing and has lived with her father ever since. She went to school while helping her mother with the housework. When her father was arrested by the warlords, she and her mother were also arrested and imprisoned for more than 20 days. The day after his release from prison, his father was killed, and Li Xinghua dropped out of school to take care of his mother and younger siblings until 1931. After the death of her mother, she and her brother Li Baohua took up the burden of life. After being admitted to Sino-French University, he went to Yan'an with his younger siblings in 1940. After the war, Li Xinghua had been engaged in teaching and folk literature research, and during the special period, he became depressed and became ill, resulting in blindness in both eyes. In 1979, Li Xinghua died of illness at the age of 60.

Li Dazhao's younger daughter, Li Yanhua, was born in 1919. She studied hard from an early age and later worked for many years at the Great Black Tuo Primary School. On the eve of the liberation of the whole country, she was transferred to work at the Jidong Jianguo College and later transferred back to Beijing.
