Native rice is mostly distributed in the world, but mainly in Asia and the Americas, China's is called rice, and the Americas is called wild rice. At present, the United States and Canada have artificially cultivated wild rice, the country is mostly wild, there are also some artificial cultivation, in China's wild picking of rice is generally mainly produced in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River water network lakes, but in fact, North China, Central China, Southwest, South Central And so on are distributed, but Yangcheng Lake is the most.
Chinese wild rice grows in water and produces seeds like rice, which is a relatively rare grain. Generally in September, the ears are drawn, the flowers are like reeds, and the seeds can be more than an inch long, which can be picked after autumn frost, and the skin is dark brown. It is said that the golden eagle is particularly fond of eating rice, hence the name carved rice. In ancient China, it was one of the six grains, which were barn, millet, millet, sorghum, wheat, and millet. Before the Southern Song Dynasty, China also had artificial cultivation of rice, and after the Southern Song Dynasty, it gradually declined. Due to the extremely low yield and difficulty in picking, the Tang Dynasty had been excluded from the six grains, and "five grains and miscellaneous grains" became the mainstream.
It grows in water, and few people usually associate it with the aquatic plant Russet, but the two do have an inseparable relationship. It is actually an aquatic plant that is originally rooted in the same root. After being infected by powdery mildew, it cannot be pumped and cannot produce rice, but the plant is not diseased, and the stem will continue to expand, gradually forming a spindle-shaped fleshy stem, forming a new plant - Zibai, which is actually a variant of Zibai.
Zibai as a vegetable is deeply loved by people, coupled with the fact that it is difficult to harvest rice and has a low yield, resulting in people being more willing to accept high yields, good harvest of zibai, zibai has become a dish; zibai has been snubbed, gradually declining, and grain has become a medicinal material.
In recent years, due to the import of wild rice from the Americas, the rice has begun to attract people's attention, but its price of hundreds, or even hundreds of pounds, is not something that ordinary people can consume casually. It's just that this kind of rice, which has a history of 3500 years of consumption in China, has evolved into russet white, turning rarity into commonplace; when we realize the importance of rice, we will instead introduce and cultivate it from the Americas.
