Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory occupies half of its global footprint with 484,100 units in annual deliveries.

According to data released by the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee on January 11, Tesla China delivered 70,847 vehicles in December, a record high, which is also the first time Tesla China has entered the threshold of 70,000 units per month. It ranks second in the monthly wholesale sales ranking of new energy passenger car manufacturers, second only to BYD.

According to Tesla, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory achieved an annual delivery of 484,100 vehicles in 2021, far exceeding the 144,500 deliveries in 2020, achieving a year-on-year increase of 235%, almost the same as Tesla's global delivery of 499,500 vehicles in 2020.

It is worth noting that Tesla recently announced that the global delivery volume in 2021 is 936,000 units. In other words, Tesla's China delivery volume accounted for 51.7%, accounting for half of its global territory.

In terms of exports, the Shanghai Gigafactory has contributed more than 160,000 units to the overseas delivery of the sea market, covering more than 10 countries such as Europe and Asia, of which the model 3 has exported more than 130,000 units in 2021.

At the same time, the Model Y, which began to be delivered in the Chinese market in 2021, has also achieved good results, with 200,100 vehicles delivered in the whole year.

According to data previously released by Tesla, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has a production capacity of more than 450,000 vehicles, which can produce more than 1,600 Model Y bodies and more than 2,000 Model 3 bodies per day.

Research firm New Street Research has previously predicted that the Shanghai plant will deliver 185,000 units per quarter in the first half of 2022 and will gradually increase. New Street Research believes Tesla can reach 1.5 million units worldwide in 2022.

Previously, Musk had said that Tesla was confident that it could maintain a delivery growth rate of more than 50%. It is expected to achieve annual deliveries of 20 million units in 2030.
